pound4pound
With Mike Woodson Atlanta is looking at a sub .500 season - I see us winning about 36 games the way the team is constituted now maybe 38. The 36/38 win plateau is due to the healthy talent on the roster with Law and Horford coming in for support. We are still uncreative at best offensively while not playing to our strengths. Our sub patterns are lousy and even "emotional" based upon the players favor with Woodson. We tend to begin halves unprepared and or uninspired putting us into deep holes. I haven't seen a play out of a time-out that was anything more than a clear out or pick and role for Joe. Maybe an isolation for T-Lue - both very weak. I would love to see Mike Fratello in here - a coach that can take a team of athletes and let them run or a team of scrubs and play half court. The man has simply won wherever he goes. Mike Fratello's career coaching Atlanta Hawks 1983-84 40 42 .488 Atlanta Hawks 1984-85 34 48 .415 Atlanta Hawks 1985-86 50 32 .610 Atlanta Hawks 1986-87 57 25 .695 Atlanta Hawks 1987-88 50 32 .634 Atlanta Hawks 1988-89 52 30 .634 Atlanta Hawks 1989-90 41 41 .500 Cleveland Cavaliers 1993-94 47 35 .573 Cleveland Cavaliers 1994-95 43 39 .524 Cleveland Cavaliers 1995-96 47 35 .573 Cleveland Cavaliers 1996-97 42 40 .512 Cleveland Cavaliers 1997-98 47 35 .573 Cleveland Cavaliers 1998-99 22 28 .440 Memphis Grizzlies 2004-05 40 26 .606 Memphis Grizzlies 2005-06 49 33 .598 Memphis Grizzlies 2006-07 6 24 .200 Totals 667 545 .550 http://www.nba.com/coachfile/mike_fratello/index.html Fratello gets us to .500 at worst. ncthompson11
Yi would have given us a talent that we havent seen in a while in Atlanta. A much better scoring threat than hortford and would have worked at center if we put him there. Its a shame to pass on a guy with that talent and variety of skills that only Joe Johnson has on this team.
Swatguy
Horford is a beast.

Premium Member Sothron Posted June 29, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 29, 2007 If we could get Fratello to come back and play his offense like he did in Atlanta and NOT the horrible style of offense with Cleveland and Memphis I would be all over it. I still can't believe they fired Fratello after one year of .500 basketball. I'm still mad they fired him and didn't give him better talent to work with. The Hawks had a callup on the radio after every game. Routinely a guy named "Ralph from Ben Hill" would best his failures. Ralph made Fratello look like a neophyte "Head coach". That coupled with: The real reason he benched Theus are the reasons of managements embarassment and Fratello's firing.
mg2005
Forget Fratello, Doc Rivers is our man. He will be axed by Boston after next season and the timing will be perfect for us to axe Woodson and pick up Rivers.
pound4pound
I would want that up tempo style too but what I see in Fratello is the ability to adapt. A trait that Woodson does not have.
TheDude
If you're going to get a replacement coach, get PJ Carlesimo as they called for last night.

frosgrim
agreed PJ has the experience now to run a better offense than what Woody is doing with us. Mike would be my second choice now though. I think he could bring back that open offense that he ran with Nique, Doc, and the gang.
