cyman3
straight up? (im sure a few scrub players have to be involved to make it work out)... would Knicks do it? Sprewells value isint as high as it used to be, Knicks are clearly looking to move him, Robinsons STATS are better in most categories. u think NY would do it? Premium Member Diesel Posted April 16, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 16, 2003 The Knicks think that Spreewell is 27 years old and putting up Allstar Numbers. Or atleast that's how they approach trading him. Remember, the deal was Spreewell for Hendu/JT/Glover. Do you think that they feel that Spreewell for Grob is even? Right now, Grob is statistically better than Spreewell... And being that Spreewell's strength is speed... His game is on a huge decline.
cynic
The Knicks always overvalue their players. They wanted to push something like LJ/Childs for Deke, right? We wanted Houston/Camby, and they wouldn't do either.
Premium Member Diesel Posted April 16, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 16, 2003 That's the same reason that they won't go anywhere. It would be Stern's wish that the Knicks win the Lottery and get James. However, they are not good managers of their players. BUT with the Knicks in the lottery, watch for them to get a high pick. They are one of the biggest markets in the League, no way Stern allows them to go down to their own demise because Houston makes 100 million and Ward, Spree and others are overpaid. cyman3
and theres some secret to it that the average fan doesnt know (much less the players in the league)?? i used to think that... i mean, how on earth could teams with a less than a 5% chance get #1 picks? Premium Member Diesel Posted April 16, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 16, 2003 Yes, I do. I have noticed that the draft has been used for the betterment of many teams in various conditions. NY gets Patrick Ewing... This was a fix if there ever was. Orlando gets Penny..... Another Fix. NJ gets Kenyon Martin... Fix (thorn was just ushered in as GM). Atlanta gets #3 in the draft... Fix. Attendance Slumping. Chicago gets screwed 3 yrs in a row...Fix. Stern upset about Jordan's dynasty being dismantled by Krauss. Boston gets Screwed the year it has 2 lottery picks... Fixed. No way in [censored] SA was supposed to get Duncan, they were not that bad. Point is that Stern didn't want Pitino to succeed in the NBA. Washington gets #1 pick over Chicago... Along comes Mr. Jordan. This year the lottery will be televised... BUT.... Why do these Combinations? Why not Put in balls with the teams logo on it. Each team gets So many balls. Mathematically, the probabilities can be set up right. You would lose the suspense but pick #1 first and go down the line... It's too simple. Stern wants it complicated because there are markets that need saving.... 1. NY. NY needs James in the worst way. 2. Cleveland. Cleveland needs a winning team and a star player. 3. Atlanta. Atlanta needs a Star. My guess is that two of these 3 will be in the lottery.
