Maybe it's because he plays on a 50 win team rather than a 37 win team.

The Hawks would be the most athletic team in the NBA, that's for sure.

JR carries some risk but the Hawks aren't in a position that they can just play it safe all the time and expect to be contenders.

People bringing up Rider seem to forget that we traded Steve Smith to get him. I haven't seen anyone suggest that we trade JJ for JR or start JR if we sign him so the comparison is pretty bogus
