I think what he means is that he is going to try and compete to the best of his ability if they happen to call a play or 2 for him. Our play calling sucks and does not allow Marvin to be as involved as I believe he should be.

Exactly. If the head coach is doesn't have any confidence in the team, it really is contagious. At the beginning of the season, Woody said the team will be trying to compete for the 4th spot.... what a fool.

You guys can't take Marvin's comments that serious. That's caled "being coy", or downplaying what you're going to do. This team knows it can "compete" with Orlando. They just have to prevent those mega-runs that blow the game open.
