Randy
Looks to me like there is no deal for Kaman that can work, or be worth it. A better backup for ZaZa may be the best we can hope for at this time.
Guest
Another thing: with the draft as deep as everyone is saying, why give up a 1st round pick for him.
Premium Member sturt Posted February 1, 2012 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 1, 2012 Thought I said this already, but maybe not in this thread... and too lazy to go look... That is, the talk in Boston is that they believe there is a legitimate chance that NOLA does a buy-out with Kaman rather than making a trade. And in truth, it actually makes some sense for everyone involved. NOLA may find it more advantageous to save a few million than to acquire whatever talent might be offered... which may or may not be much. Kaman may be willing to take a buy-out and sacrifice some money otherwise owed by NOLA, with the expectation that he'll be able to make that up with whatever his new club would pay... and having that flexibility to pick a team rather than for NOLA to do so by trading him is something he'd have to consider valuable. Were that situation to develop, thanks in part to the resistance to go all-in and hold onto Crawford, we have advantage on several would-be suitors since we do have the full MLE still tucked in Sund's back pocket. The question becomes is Kaman the type of player that Sund and Gearon considers capable of putting us into legit contention for the conference and/or NBA finals... and thus, someone they'd be willing to pay luxtax for. ngc7
he is if we can get hiim for just the mle and not have to give up any pieces. we could be real tough in the playoffs especcially if horford makes it back
Guest
If Kaman gets bought out, I think everyone would be on board to sign him if ASG will pony up the money. Remember that going off the tax even with the MLE) means the ASG will be paying double.
