Premium Member Diesel Posted March 9, 2012 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted March 9, 2012 AGAIN, DWIGHT HOLDS THE CARDS. Not the Hawks. Not any team that trades for him. How is that difficult to comprehend? Dwight can sign outright with the Nets, regardless of what the Hawks want to do with him. The ONLY hope is that NJ doesn't want to eat up all of their cap space to sign Dwight and even then, that's in the hands of the Nets and not the Hawks. It doesn't matter what I or you or anyone thinks is the best place for Dwight and sure it sounds awesome for him to play for the Clippers, but so far Dwight has made it known that the Nets and Mavericks are his 2 preferred places to play. Yes.. Dwight Holds the cards... So do you think he'd go to NJ without a SNT just because he could without first considering a SNT? Remember, we're his hometown. Do you really think a good Christian Man like Dwight (who doesnt want his baby's mama to mention his name on the show she's on and sues her for lots of money every time she whispers the #12) would want the image of him being Selfish??? Has no love for Atlanta. Unlike Lebron, he can't say he's from Athens. He's was raised in Swainsboro and ATLANTA. He went to SW Atlanta Christian High School. His daddy was a State Trooper, his mama played for Morris Brown College. Do you think he wants to be the villain that killed Atlanta Basketball? He grew up loving the Hawks. I think if he is going to leave, he would try to work out a SNT.. plus it puts more money in the nets coffers.

He doesn't owe Atlanta anything even if we did trade for a rental of him and I honestly don't think he'd care. His main priority would be to keep the Nets with as much talent and as many assets as possible. It's very different than with Lebron when the Cavs drafted him and did everything they could to try and build a winner around him.
Highpozt2
I would consider that Dwight would only be attracted to Atlanta if some weighted pieces are kept. So to trade Horf and Josh would be way to much to offer. Dwight can walk at the end of the year and go anywhere he has an offer. Marvin Williams and Horf with a pick and pieces to make numbers work would be much more attractive and would instantly move the Hawks to one of the top 5 teams in the NBA. Dwight, Josh, Rad, JJ and Teague with Pargo, Green, Dampier, Tmac possibly on your bench. Hedo contract added is the major snag.

Kimsey
Why not a Horford and Kirk for Pau and their first rounder. It gives us our best chance at competing for a title while adding a top 20 draft pick along the lines. Once Pau's deal comes off the books we immediately amnesty Joe and hire BK to rebuild this thing.

Because LA is not trading Pau for a player (Al) who won't sniff the floor to help them on their title hunt THIS season.
Guest
Again... what keeps us from working Dwight into a deal with LAC? Just ask yourself.. where would you rather be... On a team with Deron and Lopez with no real Sg... or On a team with Paul, Griffin, Butler, and Bledsoe According to ShamSPort, NJ is already at 35 Million in contracts for next year. Deron would get more than he's getting now... which is more than Paul is going to make. Moreover, They won't have room to do a whole lot of signings. D-12 wants to go to NJ for market... but what market is bigger han LA. And is Market worth you having to start over. NJ would SNT with us (if necessary) because they don't want to be like Chicago the year they thought they were getting Duncan and Jones and got NOTHING. Because Dwight will be a FREE AGENT!!!!!! What are you talking about, there is no working a deal with LAC. They have Marshon Brooks and Anthony Morrow at SG. Maybe you missed that D12 wants to be the man - he doesn't want to be a "nobody". LA might be a bigger market, but that belongs to Kobe no matter what anybody else may say. D12 will be competing with Griifin and Paul to be the man there. D12 will be the man in the new stadium in Brooklyn over Deron, with a billionaire owner and the NY crowd he would be in the psoition he wants to be. Premium Member NineOhTheRino Posted March 9, 2012 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) this thing looks to be a done deal. Can't wait to see D12 losing tight 4th quarter games with his horrendous FT. Sorry but I'd rather have a 3-teamer that lands us Bynum. vext
Hoford, Hinrich, 2013 1st round pick for Howard This gets Orlando an all-star center and cap relief with Hinrich's contract comes off. It also potentially gives them a really high 1st rounder if we lose Dwight to NJ in the off-season. Or, Horford, Teague, Zaza, Hinrich, and 2013 1st rounder for Howard, Nelson This would give them the same benefits of the previous trade and would also get them out of Nelson's contract for a younger/cheaper Teague. Zaza would give them additional big man depth next year.
