usually i am the first one to critsize the hawks.but dam hawks fans have you looked at these other teams in the playoffs.look at the seventy sixers they run the celics off the court 3/4 ths the game.at the end of the game they looked way worse than we do.they looke like little school children trying to put a square peg in a round hole.look at the indiana pacers which most people say are put together with better pieces then we have.whats their problem they still need somebody with some balls to take over the game at the end.look at the memphis grizzlies which was touted as the most dangerous team in the playoffs. it would not surprised me if they ende up represinting the west in the finals, but look who shouldnt have lost their series. evedently they havent developed the mental toughness to go to the promised land.yess we missed our oppertunity but we do have an excuse , our superstars were not at 100%.we dont have a superstar, sund put a bench together withstraw & mud & they sustained us through the loss of horford. we were expected to not even make the playoffs.i saw a post of us complaining about the bench. how could we? i believe if tracy mcgrady would not have gotten injured he gives us 10 more pts. and stops us from loosing one of those games.even stack house put a few jabs in a couple of times. the only one that i was dissapointed with was vlad. he was hot that first month after that he gave us nothing.

Memphis struggles with athletic bigs. Indiana and Philly are worse teams than we are. They have a lot of specialists but their players are all one dimensional. I don't even think either team as a legit #1 or #2 option. David West with CP3 is a legit #2 option but not with Indy. Iggy is like Josh, a #3 option. At least we have Joe.

One thing our fans need to remember is Smith, Horford, and Joe and very good all around players. Joe has the ability and skills but lacks the tools. Horford has everything but the post skills and the ability to create his own shot. Josh has all of the ability in the world with low offensive BBIQ.

if everybody just slow down and catch their breath i think we are a good ownership away from becoming a good contender. i dont believe we have to blow up the whole core.i can see letting go marvin, nobody will touch johnson contract , if we trade josh we must get a decent center for him. i can hope for a brook lopez and on the low end a chris kaman.this guy wants to be the superstar we dont have, which is why he takes the shots.

Brook Lopez isn't a real center. He doesn't protect the rim, rebound well, play good defense, and he isn't good enough on offense to be a #1 option. He's a prime in between player. Has a lot of talent but nothing championship worthy.

I have no ill will for Brook but Josh is much more impactful without the major injury issues(foot).

Its a classic glass half full or empty thing with the Hawks. True, we are better than a few teams who outlasted us in the playoffs. Watching the Clippers vs. Grizzlies series, both teams have mental lapses and breakdowns of focus and team play moreso than us. Del Negro's team couldn't even match man on man and get a quick foul in a one possession game as time ran out. Conley throwing up the worst floaters you've ever seen in crunch time. The Celtics just casually hung around in Game 1 versus the Sixers, and calmy did the every little thing down the stretch to cruise past them late. I dont know what to say about the Pacers if they cant get past the Heat with the even bigger advantages they have up front with Bosh gone (West, Hansborough, Hibbert versus Anthony, Haslem and Turiaf?) Yeah, we can count our blessings. But we can't feel guilty for wanting more, like the Sonics/ Thunder, Celtics, and Heat, who have all had years much worse than the ones we complain about in recent memory. Obviously, the difference on the court is acquiring franchise players, whether through the draft or FA. That all goes back to the Top. Moreso than a LeBron James, I want a Mark Cuban.

see hawks fan look at what happened when they lost one of their superstars the premadonna miami heat, missing 2 straight freethrows (not lebron) wade mising layups at the end.loosing to an offensively enept pacer team.but i knew you can beat the heat if you just got sufficent scoring from your players in the paint . daammed hawks with a little bit of luck you could have made it to the championship.Like i said hawks fans count your blessings.

Larry Drew said at the beginning of the season that this team can make "no excuses". So you have to hold these guys to that. NO EXCUSES.Game 2 was a pivotal moment in this series. No Rondo. Ray Allen is still out. Hawks have that game at home. Take a commanding 2 - 0 lead in that series, and you put extreme pressure on the Celtics, with the Hawks having supreme confidence. And they blew it.And why? Not because of injuries. But because the players and the coach simply couldn't get it done.Period. We had a 4th quarter lead in every game besides the Game 4 blowout, and forced OT in Game 3 WITHOUT Josh Smith and Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia. They just blew it man.And now look at how the East is unfolding. No D-Rose. No Bosh ( which will significantly weaken Miami ). So instead of going through Boston - Chicago - Miami to get to an NBA Finals . . you're potentially looking at going through Boston - Philly - Indiana. They blew it. And I for one are NOT going to let them use "injuries" as an excuse, seeing how close most of those games were. Despite the absence of talent, those games came down to individual plays and possessions. Boston executed on both ends better than us, so they beat us.You don't necessarily blow up the team, but you do trade at least one of "The Core", and you must get rid of the GM. And if you can find an experienced NBA coach to replace Drew, you need to do that too. Because at the end of the day, the ONLY thing Drew has done better than Woody, was win two 2nd round games . . which in the grand scheme of things meant nothing.Go after the big dog. Bring Jerry Sloan here and completely change the culture of this team. This team needs some toughness. Sloan will provide that, and hold EVERYBODY accountable.

The great thing about these super teams is you take one of their super pieces away, they become normal but otherwise, they would beat us, Indy, and Philly with ease.

I read like the first few sentences of North's post and was already in 100% agreement. The time for "one more season" is over. This same core got obliterated by the Magic. Swept by the Cavs. Dusted off by the Heat. And embarrassed by the Celtics during their moment to shine in 2008. Let's not forget the close call Milwaukee gave us and the 1st round bouncing the Celtics gave us. Let's not forget that this same team could not clinch it's own playoff spot in 2008.

If there is something special about this team, you're not going to find it by running the same gameplan year after year. It's not that this loss was so terrible. The problem is that we are stuck in "middle of the pack" hell. Something has to be done to get us out of it.

At this point, I would take a something that would take us forwards or backwards.

...because you don't know who the next phenom to rise will be or who will break out. Not too long ago, Seattle picked up a guy that has brought them to the brink of greatness. Chicago too. A couple of seasons ago, Philly and Indiana were bottom feeders. Now, our boys are at home watching THEM.
