Let's play . . "Distribute the Hawks Minutes"

These are the following guys who can play guard for the Hawks, along with the main position they can play

- Teague ( PG )

- Harris ( PG )

- Jenkins ( SG )

- Williams ( SG - PG )

- Morrow ( SG - SF )

- Stevenson ( SF - SG )

You have 48 minutes per position that you can use.

Example: This was the Game 1 backcourt and wing rotation of the Hawks vs Boston

PG: Teague ( 33 minutes ) - Pargo ( 10 ) - Hinrich ( 5 )

SG: Hinrich ( 27 ) - Johnson ( 11 ) - Green ( 10 )

How would you distribute the minutes at the PG and SG positions? Would you have guys playing 2 positions? Would you have guys not playing at all?

If you need to go to 3 positions, and distribute minutes at the SF spot to help yourself out, you may do that. Matter of fact, let's go ahead and do that.

Here is that same game, with the minutes at SF added:

SF: Johnson ( 27 ) - McGrady ( 14 ) - Williams ( 7 )

For you Josh Smith at SF lovers, consider that too in the rotation. How many minutes do you want Josh Smith playing at PF.

So there is your challenge. Set the rotation of players and minutes at PG, SG, and SF

From the sound of Ferry we are going small:PG -Jeff Teague (33); Lou Williams (15)SG - Devin Harris (33); Lou Williams(15)SF - DeShawn Stevenson (23); Anthony Morrow (25)PF - Josh Smith (38); Ivan Johnson (10)C - Al Horford (38); Zaza Pachulia(10)It is gonna be tough for the rookies to find minutes at the SG/PF positions. I see DeShawn starting, but Morrow averaging more minutes.I am getting the sense of a combo PG lineup listening to Ferry.

If for no other reason than for defensive purposes, I'd really hope to see DeShawn getting more than 5 minutes per game.

Here's what I have based on last year's WS48 average.Jeff Teague - Total of 2,362 minutes at point guard. This is 60% of the point guard minutes on the year. This averages out to be about 29 MPG. 2,362 minutes = 6.4 win shares at his 2011-2012 WS48 average. I anticipate this will increase, as he has increased this in each season. It will not surprise me to see Jeff come close to 0.15 WS48 which would give him 7.4 win shares on the year. Lou Williams - Total of 2,558 minutes at point guard and shooting guard. I have him getting 55% of the shooting guard minutes and 15% of the point guard minutes. This averages out to be around 31 mpg. At his 2011-2012 average of 0.174 WS48, this would give Lou 9.3 win shares on the year. Devin Harris - Total of 1,771 minutes. He gets 984 minutes at point guard and 787 minutes at shooting guard. This averages out to be around 22 minutes per game total. At his 2011-2012 average of 0.115 WS48, this would give him 4.2 win shares on the year.John Jenkins - 787 minutes at shooting guard (15% of the time). His projected WS48 is around 0.045, which would give him 0.7 win shares on the year. At this point in time, I would have Anthony Morrow getting limited time at shooting guard and playing most of his time at small forward. I'd give him around 1,378 minutes at small forward and around 197 minutes at shooting guard. Morrow will be good for about 1.7 win shares. If the Hawks land Kyle Korver, I'd slot him at about 50% of the small forward minutes and give Josh about 15% of those minutes. That would give him around 1,968 minutes at small forward while Josh gets around 590 minutes. Korver would be good for about 7.1 win shares.Josh would then get around 60% of the power forward minutes, 2,363 minutes. His total minutes would be roughly 2,952 minutes. This is 8.6 win shares.I still have some numbers to work out.

Let's eliminate the possibility of Korver at this point, as he is not yet on the team. He may be in a day or so, but he is not yet.PG - Jeff Teague (29 MPG), Devin Harris (12 MPG), Lou Williams (7 MPG)SG - Devin Harris (10 MPG), Lou Williams (24 MPG), John Jenkins (10 MPG), Anthony Morrow (4 MPG)SF - Josh Smith (17 MPG), Anthony Morrow (17 MPG), Ivan Johnson (10 MPG), John Shurna (4 MPG)PF - Al Horford (17 MPG), Josh Smith (17 MPG), Ivan Johnson (12 MPG), Mike Scott (2 MPG)C - Zaza Pachulia (26 MPG), Al Horford (17 MPG), Ivan Johnson (3 MPG), Mike Scott (2 MPG)NOTE: I wouldn't play Deshawn Stevenson or Johan Petro at all, because they are useless players. The breakdown:Al Horford = 2,788 minutes (0.180 WS48) = 10.5 WSJosh Smith = 2,788 minutes (0.139 WS48) = 8.1 WSLou Williams = 2,558 minutes (0.174 WS48 = 9.3 WSJeff Teague = 2,362 minutes (0.131 WS48) = 6.5 WSZaza Pachulia = 2,165 minutes (0.147 WS48) = 6.6 WSIvan Johnson = 2,050 minutes (0.113 WS48) = 4.8 WSDevin Harris = 1,771 minutes (0.115 WS48) = 4.2 WSAnthony Morrow = 1,772 minutes (0.051 WS48) = 1.8 WSJohn Jenkins = 820 minutes (0.045 WS48) = 0.8 WSMike Scott = 328 minutes (0.07 WS48) = 0.5 WSJohn Shurna = 328 minutes (0.100 WS48) = 0.7 WSBased on win shares, this team could win 53-54 games.

Great posts KB21, but the 11 man team obviously won't pan out over a season. Obviously, we want more minutes out of Horf than 11 games, so Zaza should be down as would Collins/Damp if they were back, but surely Petro would fill in 2010 Collons minutes, even in then best scenario. Put the man down for 10 crappy minutes of nothingness. Surely Stephenson will see the court too. I like how you drop Harris to 22 minutes. Another post put him down for 30+. He is like 32 and played 27 minutes last year. To be effective, that # needs to go down a few per year now. Hopefully Korver takes those SF minutes away from Ivan and Shurna. What is his WS48? That is a big drop off after the top 7.

As the season goes on I believe morrow will play more sf giving Jenkins some consistent minutes at sg. Stevenson will be a defensive specialist losing some consistent minutes as the season goes on. I can see him playing 20+ minutes against the heat, Miami, thunder, grizzlies I also. Relieve petrol minutes will disappear and Ivan and Scott will receive all of those
