Today is 92.9 day. The Hawks have signed with 92.9. I was interested in where they ranked in Atlanta Radio:

At first thought that was less than impressive but considering the other radio stations that carry sports, it was higher than those two AND it didn't have an anchor sport to get them there.

So obviously this is a move in the right direction.

The real question is How much power does Ferry have? I don't remember Babcock or BK making decisions like this?

Can Ferry do something about the rest of the media. Maybe handpick a new Beat reporter for the AJC??

I wouldn't mind seeing that the Hawks GM has power like NE's Football coach or the Redskins owner. Just control everything that comes out.

Well, it's different. Not talking about the Cal Bowdler snafu or maybe Genius leak...

Ferry isn't the same type of quiet house that we saw out of BK. BK didn't let anything get out and would be vague during pressers. Ferry seems very forthcoming during pressers and I wonder if he's working to improve the total media around the Hawks. I used to hate listening to Hawks radio and hearing the guys slam the Hawks continuously. Then read the newspaper and see guys who know nothing about the Hawks. I'm sorry Chris, Michael, and to some extent Sekou before them sucked in their homerism for the Hawks. Sekou was knowledgable but he wasn't exactly a homer. I want a writer like Steve Holman (TV) covering the Hawks beat. When will Jason Walker get a call from the AJC and can Ferry make that happen?

Ferry is not letting anything get out. We have no idea what his plans are in free agency, we have no idea who the Hawks are working out or looking at in the draft and we have no idea what type of team he plans to build in the future. We can speculate on all of those things but Ferry isn't saying. Just like Pop, he can't tell us that.

The 92.9 move is very good. It is easy to find (old QXIE spot) and the signal will cover 7 million listeners around. It was needed. With near total control and money he has the power to make us contenders. He just only have 5 years cause he will be spending a lot.

Wow. I knew radio generally sucked in Atlanta but this list makes me depressed. I only listen to 100.5 occasionally in the morning for the regular guys, 680 for my sports but usually via tune in radio but over the air when I can actually hear through the static and 90.1 for jazz classics on Saturday night sometimes. I guess I represent the extreme minority with my taste.

If the owners are smart (i know, i know) you let Ferry do anything he wants until he royally screws something up. That's managing of any type of executive talent right? Give them freedom to go and watch it. If you're going to micromanage then you don't need or won't be able to get real talent.
