Not as defenders. There is that whole defense thang.Unless you are 7' tall, one skill does not > the MLE justify.Mike dunleavy. Same age, 43% from 3, same PER,...HALF AS MUCH!!! There is your gd market-value BS! TWO years, $6 million. We paid Korver twice that to see him shoot at age 36.Get real peeps. We overpaid. Dunleavy is the same for half as much for ha lf as long. 'Nuff said.W

I feel like we're the only people who get this.

You don't sign any player let alone a THIRTY TWO year old one trick pony player to a four year deal and hope that some day you can possibly trade him off if it doesn't work out. Making a bad decision in the hopes another GM is stupid enough to make an equally bad decision is faulty logic. Thirty two year old one trick pony on four year deals aren't assets. That's a liability when they are making over the MLE.

If you want to be short sighted then sure go ahead and sign every player without considering them as assets that can be moved. That works out great when you're only thinking in terms of basketball. It's how you get a Joe Johnson signed to a 120 million dollar contract.

Expect a thread to do so on Friday. lol I have been lying in wait for the go-ahead to start that thread!

No need to worry, I have my own thread ready to go with the heading 'I'm here for my Crow - I'll eat in anyhow: baked, fried, sautéed, steamed, broiled and raw'

Or the only ones that don't get it

Come on Phoostal, Sothron and Walter know more about building a basketball team than you or I or even Danny Ferry for that matter. They just moonlight on Hawksquawk for the fun of it.

This only makes sense to me if we sign Dwight so I am crossing my fingers but I am eager to see Ferry's plan for this team unfold this summer. Since I was not a fan of a lot of his moves in Cleveland (Jamison, Hughes, Shaq, etc.), I am really hoping this will be good.

On the plus side, I really enjoyed watching Korver and think he can be an important role player on a good team. I also think he is significantly better than Mike Dunleavy, just for comparison purposes. This is the high range of his value ($6M/year) but at least he is a player I will enjoy rooting for.

There's no need to try and get personal mr. admin guy. No one is being snarky with you guys for having a different opinion.

I'm leaning with you I don't think he is coming as well and will eat my words as well if it happens.

Keeping Joe kept us as a playoff tread mill team. Resigning a one trick pony unless we sign Dwight does the EXACT same thing except Korver isn't as good of a player and he's older. It is a great comparison.

You think KK by himself is preventing us from tanking? Wow, for a one trick pony he sure must be good at that one trick to do all that by himself...

I agree we all can agree to disagree I guess we will find out down the road. Lets not forget we are all Hawks fans and want the best for the team. There is just more ways to skin a cat than just one.

I'm assuming that is just step one in the "settle for mediocrity plan" if we don't land Dwight. Wasting the rest of our cap space on Al Jefferson or Pekovic or Iggy would cement it.

Guest Walter

Luckily he's not a good individual defender so he can't lose much there can he? Get real Walter. Dunleavy is a career 37% 3pt shooter. Korver is a career 42% 3pt shooter who shot 46% for us last year. Great value in this market. 'Nuff said

You think the difference between a 43.6 and 41% 3pt specialist is twice as much salary for twice as long. That would make me 2.6% short of being twice as smart as you.W

I agree that it's on the high range -- but I think it speaks well to the culture of the Hawks now. Perennial playoff team.

Also, I feel that this is a good move even if we don't end up with Dwight (and let's be real, we're the Hawks, good things don't happen to us.)

I think Korver-Horford-Asik would work better than Korver-Smith-Horford ever did.

If you're taking it personal then by all means go ahead. But you're the ones who've come here to crap on a thread that 95% of us are excited about.

Of note, the last 3 yrs.

I got a feeling that something very good is going to happen for this team on Friday, no way they will give out a agreement to another player unless we are out of the running or something else

I'm sure someone will make a joke about this but I am literally praying this means we are getting Dwight. It is the only way this makes any sense to me.
