Just laughing out loud at everyone on this board who thinks giving a 32 year old defensive liability who can't handle the basket ball in traffic $6 million a year is a good idea but resigning Josh at $12 million a year is suicide. I wonder if some of you just got locked out of games of 21 as kids because all you could do is shoot and have a soft spot for one trick ponies.

Yes yes. you love josh with all your heart. We get it.

To break it down even further for people to comprehend the signing of KK as an asset for the team. He could be an important piece to have for the team we are building at a reasonable contract. Or for the negative nancy's he could be an important piece at the trade deadline because his 6 million a year contract is not a hinderance to a team making a championship push. We will then be able to get an expiring contract, younger player, and or a draft pick. This is flexible anyway you look at the signing.

For a guy that is a liability on defense and can play 20-25 mpg at the very maximum in playoffs if you don't want to get destroyed on defense I think 6M$ is too much. He is already 32 and we will be paying 6M$ to a bench 36 year old guy in 4 years.

I think our best option that may still be available, although highly unlikely would be a team of

Rondo-Schröder

Korver-Lou-Jenkins-Cunningham

Brewer-Korver-

Josh-Musc-Scott

Dwight-Vet Min-Musc

Clearly we would trade Horford for Rondo which I really dont want to do, but the team it would create would be contenders.

I do not get this "Korver is a defensive liability" talk at all. Can someone give me some evidence of this, because surely there is something you can point to that actually demonstrates Korver being a liability. I mean, surely he must have been one of our worst defenders last year so you should be able to easily show that in some variant of +/- we were worse off with Korver in the game than out of the game. This must be the case, because in the chatrooms during the year there was more praise for Korver's D than there was hatred towards it. I know this because I was in the chat most of the year. This should be an easy exercise if Korver is a defensive liability. I'm gonna hang up and listen now.

I never really thought he was...he is all out hustle

What are the lottery numbers? You dont think Ferry would trade Horford for a chance at Rondo and Howard? You think he would rather keep Horford and have an average team? Does that make any sense?

I love Horford. I dont want him to go. But you could at least open your mind to other possibilities. You are not Ferry. You have 0 clue of what he is going to do.

Korver plays solid d. He obviously isnt your Mario West d stopper but I never saw him as a liability. He isnt a turnstile like Teague was at times. Korver is a shooter and knows hes a shooter. He doesnt try to play point guard. He doesnt try to be Lebron. When Smoove is Smoove hes great but he thinks hes Larry Bird way too much. lol

You dont sign a player to possibly trade him at trade dead line cause you dont know what his value would be . Again no team is going to want to strap themself with a 6 mil 3 pt specialist either. If Korver was signed to a 2 year deal ok you can see a championship team like a THUNDER trying to make a push for him but outside that and NETS having no draft picks for the future or expering contracts outside the big guys I think Korver is here to stay

Hawks can get Rondo without trading Hoford ...Teague /Schröder/Draft pick would probably get it done for Rondo

I'm thinking of going to the High Museum this weekend. There's an exhibit featuring Vermeer, one of the finest painters of the Dutch Golden Age.

However, now I'm reconsidering. He's one-dimensional. All he ever did was paint. Since he didn't sculpt, or compose music, or write poetry, he's clearly not a good artist.

In short: why is one-dimensional bad? Being a one-trick pony is fine if your one trick is being able to fly. Those phrases are not criticisms!

All KK does is shoot, extremely well, and when he does, it goes into the basket like it does for no one else. This more than makes up for his other deficiencies.

If Horford was in any danger of going somewhere, they would not be using him as a big piece of the pie to lure Dwight Howard to Atlanta. Look at the roster... They JUST extended a qualifying offer to Teague making him a restricted free agent. They didn't re-sign Josh Smith. Who exactly do you think DF is building this team around if it's not Horford?

You might be right. But the only way Rondo comes here is if Smith is here. And I really dont see a frontcourt of Dwight-Horford-Smith working too well. This is a pipe dream anyway. It will just be fun to see what happens.

I dont mind one trick pony but were not a contender . If Howard is coming to ATL this move is GREAT but why tie up 6 mil in a one trick pny as Korver when Hawks are not close to being a contender and wont be any time soon. Why not get a more athletic wing man that can run the floor and create his own shot . There were soo many other options avilable the Hawks could have went

Again I like Korver as a player just not a 6 mil for a team that is retooling or rebuilding.

Im not saying he is not. But if Howard comes here and says if you get Rondo and Smith I will 100% come to Atlanta, you dont think Ferry does his best to make that happen?

Lol today 36 is the new 25 with the way these guys take care of themselves. Didnt you see the finals with all those " old " Spurs come within a 21 year olds missed free throw of being champs. Didnt you see how important 3 point shooters were for the two teams in the finals.

You make it sound like we can get by without spending money. We HAVE to spend money. You can scream high in the mountain for one year deals for veterans so we can save our money. But you know what. Once we tank into irrelevance we arent getting any free agents to come here for another 5 years. So whats the point of saving money?

You like Korver. I like Korver. We have to spend money. We spent it. Simple as that.
