NBA Trade Speculation: 1 Player from Every Team Who Should Be Traded in 2013-14

Atlanta Hawks: Louis Williams, SG

Contract: 2 years, $10.7 million

Team Needs: A full-size shooting guard

Why He Should Go

Actually, I think the Atlanta Hawks are pretty well-balanced, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they stood pat all season long.

But if Dennis Schröder and John Jenkins both show a lot of development before the trade deadline, moving Lou Williams could become feasible.

At 6'1", Williams is woefully undersized as a 2 but doesn't play at all like a 1.

A bigger wing who can more effectively defend shooting guards and small forwards in the east like Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and LeBron James could make the Hawks a top-four or -five team in their conference.

Trading Lou for LeBron James could make the Hawks a top-four or -five team in their conference if the Heat completely lost their minds..

ok - I fixed it so its no longer stupid.

I'm not seeing the issue here......

Diesel has probably posted that trade thought a thousand times already and why exactly is it so shocking for the Hawks to *gasp* move from a 6th seed which most already predict to a 4/5 seed with the addition of a wing scorer/defender which most also say that the team is missing?

Ah well, wouldn't be the start of the regular season on the Squawk without posters bitching bout nothing.

Agreed. It clearly states if Dennis and Jenkins show they are capable off the bench then trading Lou makes a lot of sense. Getting a starting quality 2 who can defend would be huge for this team.

i think he was saying its stupid b/c we suck and they think a SG out side of Jordan in his prime will make us a 4 or 5 seed

No - the article is saying " A bigger wing who can more effectively defend shooting guards and small forwards in the east like Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and LeBron James could make the Hawks a top-four or -five team in their conference."

I quite agree with the article - a bigger backcourt would be nice.

There's nothing wrong with what was said here. Players like Lou are not needed on this team. I like Lou as a person, but on the court not so much. I hate undersized SG's that dominate the ball and take minutes from young guards. He's severely overrated on here as well. People act like he's a Jamal Crawford type of guy that comes off the bench and scores almost 20 points a night. He's nowhere near that

Actually i much prefer Lou to Crawford. Crawford makes Lou look like Tony Allen on defense. I think Lou's impact is really underrated. I agree with the article that we need more size and defense at the 2 but as a scorer off the bench Lou is really good.

The team started playing better when Lou got hurt. I never once felt like we needed him. Jenkins started getting minutes and proved he can play in this league. I'd rather that than see some guy come of the bench, take the ball out of our PGs hands and chuck up shot after shot. I didn't like Crawford either (nor Flip's trash ass), but atleast he was an unstoppable presence at times on offense. Lou isnt a guy thats gonna get his no matter what.

I will say this though. Lou is fine if we play him off the ball, but if they're gonna use him as a primary ball handler again then get rid of him

Most of us are in agreement on this one. Lou is one of our best trade assets with his short contract and specialist skill set. What better to get from Lou than a full size starting SG or a wing that can push players like Kyle and Carrol to the bench?
