KB wanted to keep Paul Millsap.  He wasn't a top 20 PF this season but was his last year with us.  Good chance he returns to that level next year.

Love milsap but he’s on the wrong side of his career to expect a resurgence. Yes I do agree milsap will be better but how much so for Denver at this stage.

So you think coaching the third best team in the East this season was a chore?  I see Bud's comments as positive for Brown all around including for this season (thus 5 years) but they haven't been tanking for 5 years.  They tanked for 4.

It would have been worth it to have him around to make John Collins much better 2 years from now.

Doubtful.  I think Collins will be fine nothing great but nothing too shabby either. In the future you will see that Denver’s overpay was Atlanta’s gain.

Actually, Paul Millsap was a top 20 power forward this year based on RPM data.

Among Fs, PF/Cs and C/PFs by basketball reference Paul ranked:

#48 by BPM (your most cited statistic)

#57 by VORP (your second most cited statistic)

#61 in WS

#65 in WS/48 (minimum 700 minutes played)

#37 in PER (minimum of 700 minutes played)

He made very little impact this season as he missed just over half the season and even when he did play he failed to put up even 15 points and 7 rebounds per game.  Lowest scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals over his last 5 seasons.  Unimpressive scoring efficiency on those reduced points.  Worst DBPM and DWS (on both a raw and per minute basis) of his career.

He was not a top 20 power forward this season.

They've had 5 consecutive losing seasons and spent 5 years in the top 5 of the lottery.

They have been in the top 5 of the lottery the last 4 years.  Again, confusing 5 with 4.

5 years ago they were not tanking.  They were trying to make the playoffs.  When they failed and ended up missing the playoffs they got the 11th pick in the draft.  They were not in the top 5 which is not surprising since they were trying to make the playoffs.

5 years ago Philly was the equivalent of Charlotte today.  Then they started tanking.

Nerlens Noel was a the 6th pick, so they have been drafting in the top 6 for 5 years.  One would hope regression finally took hold.

Are you talking about the pick they traded for so you are going to count Boston as a lottery team the last few years?

No, because they weren't a lottery team.  Philly was.

But Philly tried to make the playoffs that year and won 34 games.  Their record did not get them a top 10 pick let alone top 5.  You praised Charlotte this season for doing the same thing.

It's a lottery year.  It counts.

Agreed.  It is not a tanking year.  It is not a top 5 pick year.

They picked in the lottery that season.  They got the 11th pick based on their record.  Then they traded for the 6th pick like Cleveland traded for a lottery pick this year.

Yes.  So it is 5 years of lottery picks with only 2 players to show for it.

And look at em now....................

Yeah.  They aren't much.  They have padded their win totals on a weakened eastern conference.
