I know most of you don’t care about advanced stats so please disregard.  For the few who do, Per The Ref:

I didn’t want to hear or see Speedy Claxton’s name anymore but here we are.

Always liked Courtney Lee.

Who here wouldn’t swap Bogi for Josh Hart yesterday? (raises both hands)

McConnell, Connaghton, and Jones all provide better two way play as well but they’re all a toss up IMO.  McConnell and Bogi both stay on the trainer’s table.

 

I thought John’s group would be a step above as his career WS/48 is the same as Blake Griffin, Jo Noah, and Chris Bosh’s, granted those include twilight years.  His list is full of debatable impact guys, in line with the discussions going on here since he was drafted.  
 

I’ve always liked him a lot but he’s proven to be a little too matchup-dependent.

Clint’s list shows how important his offensive rebounding and screening is, as there are 8 players on his lists far more skilled than he.  I know @NBASupes is smiling at the 91% similarity to Al.

Hassan Whiteside has gotten a bad rap throughout his career, granted he brought much of it on himself.  But his net rating against the Jazz was only 6 points worse than Gobert, a perineal advanced stat God.

 

Loving the Chauncey Billups progression similarity at 93% (the first player on Steph’s full career comp). It’s so unusual for a SF/ PF to be first on the list for a PG/ SG as the formula groups positions together pretty exclusively.  Probably due to his rebounding spike.  SGA/ Brunson/ Morant (ugh) is a pretty accurate grouping, Murray clearly the superior defender.

I wished I could’ve seen Larry Drew and The Stinger more.  Fool, should’ve got born earlier.

So what's the takeaway / surprises here?   I need teaching.

None really I’m just fascinated by the deep-dive comparisons and the common denominators amongst career progressions and Win Shares.

@AHF am I crazy for just now noticing the adjusted shooting metric on Basketball Ref?  Anyway it’s a great stat similar to OPS+ and ERA+ (excellent betting tool) in baseball; new-age, single-value sabremetric numbers that even purists can get behind.

Bogi good (72 field goals added through his career). Murray no good (-321 field goals “added”).  The metric loves Bogi’s 3 point attempt rate with his efficiency despite his horrendous FT attempts.  Murray is below league average in all 8 categories.

Murray getting more efficient as a scorer is the biggest upside situation for him playing alongside Trae, imo.  He has been a a below average scorer (ie numbers driven by volume instead of efficiency) but should get better looks in Atlanta.
