Coming at you @TheNorthCydeRises

Memphis Tigers...

  • Derrick Rose
  • Penny Hardaway
  • Tyreke Evans
  • Keith Lee
  • Lorenzen Wright

Lots of other mentions like:   Dejuan Wagner. Cedrick Henderson, Precious Achiuwa, Will Barton, and my personal favorite James Wiseman...

This 5 would be one of the harder 5 to beat.

Oklahoma Sooners

  • Trae Young
  • Buddy Heild
  • Eduardo Najera
  • Blake Griffin
  • Wayman Tisdale

Sadly.. to put Trae on, I had to take Mookie Off.   Irony.

I guess the Mookie and Stacey King Show will live on the bench...

I'm going to need some help with this next one...

UNC Tarheels..

  • PG
  • Michael Jordan
  • James Worthy
  • PF
  • C

Here's my problem...  Good College players... Not so great Pro players or maybe they were...

Here's what I mean...

Tyler Hansbrough vs. Sam Perkins vs. Antwain Jamison vs. Sean May vs. Rasheed Wallace vs. Harrison Barnes

then..

Brendan Haywood vs J.R. Reid  vs. Eric Montross vs Brad Daughtery.

Then...

Kenny Smith  vs. Raymond Felton vs. Ty Lawson vs. Easy Ed Cota vs. Phil Ford

Now if I go by who did what in the pros, it's easier... But Phil Ford was a freaking Legend.   Tyler Hansbrough is probably the most decorated TarHeel ever...

Come on Squawk... where are my UNC Squawkers?  I have similar problems with Duke.

@AHF  What about Kentucky??

UNC Tarheels..

  • Phil Ford
  • Michael Jordan
  • James Worthy
  • Tyler Hansbrough
  • Brad Daugherty

I made some decisions....   Yeah Seeing Sam Perkins and Raymond Felton on the bench hurts my feelings too.

Would be hard to top UCLA's college all-time starting 5:

Gail Goodrich

Reggie Miller

Jamaal Wilks

Bill Walton

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Did Bill Walton ever play PF though??

I think that you can move Jamaal Wilkes to the PF....

and Put in Marquis Johnson at Sf.

Yeah... sucks.. got to leave Walton off.  But you left off Westbrook and Obannon and Walt Babylove Hazzard!

you missed one of their ATG players, Keith Lee.  Would definitely be the PF in the starting lineup.

I think that's the correct starting lineup for UNC.   Hansbrough stands out due to his poor pro showing, but his college resume is one of the greatest of all time.

It's funny though right.

That's the hard part about UNC.   Usually it's Duke that put out great College players that are poor pros.

@shakes  what do you know about Marquette Basketball?  Can you think of their 5?

I don't mind substituting.  Some guys were before my watch.

Marquette is pretty easy I would think.  You've got DWade and Butler.  And you've got Butch Lee and Bo  Ellis from the 77 championship team.

Biggest snub will be Doc Rivers, but I gotta go with Butch Lee who was MOP of the 77 Final Four.

C Maurice Lucas

PF  Bo Ellis

SF Jimmy Butler

PG  Butch Lee

SG  Dwyane Wade

Coach:  Al McGuire

Butch Lee Better than Doc Riivers?

Either way though, that's a tough team!!

definitely not a better pro than Doc, but he was Final Four MVP during their championship run and followed that up by being Naismith national player of the year the next season.

Doc in college was never even an All American.

I tend to favor the better pro, but I just can't ignore what Butch Lee did in college in this comparison.

I am sure you would ask 100 Kentucky fans and get 100 different answers.  I guess I would skew modern and go with:

PG - John Wall (*)

SG - Devin Booker

SF - Jamal Mashburn

PF - Dan Issel

C - Anthony Davis

Second Team:

PG - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

SG - Tony Delk

SF - Cliff Hagan

PF - Antoine Walker

C - Karl Anthony Towns

Also considered:

PG:  Jamal Murray, Rajon Rondo, Travis Ford, Wayne Turner, Eric Bledsoe, Ralph Beard, Tyrese Maxey

SG:  Rex Chapman, Pat Riley, Tyler Herro, Kyle Macy, Derek Anderson, Malik Monk, Jodie Meeks

SF: Tayshaun Prince, Kenny Walker, Ron Mercer, Jack Givens, Trey Lyles

PF: Julius Randle, Patrick Patterson, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Walter McCarty, Chuck Hayes, PJ Washington

C - Bam Adebayo, Sam Bowie, Rick Robey

(*) On this particular team, I could see going with Jamal Murray over Wall since Mashburn can be your point forward and Murray does a lot more to spread the floor.  That said, Wall's athleticism was so dominant in college (and would be in any era with his size and speed) that I think this is actually the better roster and would be stifling defensively with the size and athleticism of the team.

Stacks on stacks on stacks on stacks. You could come up with at least four completely different line ups that are better than most other teams single best.

Personally, I would like:

Rondo

Chapman (my favorite)

Mashburn (though I really loved Tayshaun)

Either Antoine or Kenny Walker

Ant Davis (really like Bowie, too)

Wagner?  Was he even a PG?

Also...

Pervis and Felton Spencer were listed as Centers.

You may be better with:

  • Wes Unseld
  • Samaki Walker
  • Junior Bridgemen
  • Darrell Griffith
  • ??? Terry Rozier

Yeah, IDK.
When I google “best pg university of Louisville” Wagner is listed.
Pervis and Unseld show up for both PF and C searches too. They were both on the small side for a C.
I’ve watched a fraction of UofL games as I have UK, but living in Louisville, these are the names everyone talks about.
Speaking of Milt Wagner, I really like his so DaJuan. Shame he had so many injuries.

well the good news is you've been granted a do-over on DaJuan Wagner.   His son, DaJuan Wagner Jr is a top 5-10 player in the incoming freshman class.   Will play for Kentucky.

**and that's how you know you are getting really old.  When guys you used to watch have Grandkids heading to the NBA next year.

DaJaun (I gotta check the spelling) was damn great.  Up there with Marberry and Anderson in terms of HS PGs.  I don't know.  There's a video out that I have refused to watch because I realize that it's going to be something sad.   Like watching a Ric Flair tell all video.
