Premium Member Diesel Posted August 2, 2002 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 2, 2002 I say we sign Willis! It would be good to have that experienced vet to play for us when we face Shaq. Two players I guess we are stuck with are: Hendu and Email. Well, I can take Hendu. He's just overpaid. I would love to trade him somewhere else but it's not neccisity. In fact if we sign Willis, we can go to: Willis/Theo/Dj Or Willis/nazr/DJ when we want to rest SAR. Email is different. I almost wouldn't mind eating Email's contract. But a different thought does appear. How about we trade: Email/CC/1st to Cleveland for JJ/Coles.
cyman3
we have a complete roster filled with OFFENSIVE POWER, DEFENSIVE POWER, and TALENT! The hawks might not be the most talented team, but we arent the worse either. (would someone like to start a debate and rank the most talented teams in order?) The only position up for grabs is the Starting SG. Unless Babcock pulls through another miracle, DJ and Glover are the 2 candidates. I think after all is said and done, DJ will start (b/c of his Defense) and Glover will be the "instant offense" off the bench (esp now that Kukoc is gone). We better GLUE as a team... define each role like sacramento kings.
Admin capstone21 Posted August 2, 2002 Admin Report Share Posted August 2, 2002 Willis would be a nice pickup. I still would like to get Ira if his salary demands come down. He is a defensive machine and a great backup for our many injury prone swingmen.
Traceman
Ira 2 yrs/$2million and K Willis 1 yr for the veteran minimum. Theo/Nazr/Willis SAR/Hendu Big Dog/Ira/CC DJ/DG JT/DD/E-Mail That leaves us with 13 players but with CC on IR and Hendu still unable to practice full speed, we need depth. The odds of all 13 being 1005 healthy at once are not that great anyway. Now if Orlando still wants to do a Miller for Nazr deal, bring it on! Miller can play SG as well as SF. Premium Member Diesel Posted August 2, 2002 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 2, 2002 Here's How I rank the teams talentwise: 1. THE KINGS. 2. The Lakers. - Not really but I won't make a spectacle. 3. The Trailblazers. 4. THE HAWKS 5. THE mavS. 6. The Pacers. 7. The Celtics 8. The Hornets 9. The Nets 10. The Clippers. Ladies and Gentlemen, we are a legit top 10 team now. Our Depth makes us very dangerous. Now all we need is good coaching.
Traceman
As long as we stay reasonably healthy, there is no reason that we shouldn't be right in the mix with every other team in the EC. I wouldn't go so far as to call us the favorite to win the EC but we should certainly be a solid playoff team with a CHANCE to win the conference. How Lon does as a coach could be the difference between a great season and a horrible season. Babs has done his job. He has provided Lon with the talent to be competitive. Now Lon has to earn his paycheck and meld this team together.

Dejay
I'm about as much of a Babcock cynic as there is but even I can't deny the moves he's made to bring in SAR and Big Dog. Injuries aside, there's no reason why this team can win at least 45 games in this conference. To hell with 37, 39, or 42 wins and an 8-seed. We'll see what Kruger's made of this year. cyman3
i really do hope LON can produce with these players on the floor. The last couple years, he had to battle with INEXPERIENCED KIDS or INJURIES... this year better have no EXCUSES Babcock is finished with his REBUILDING STAGE (which we all hated but still held together), and Lon must PRODUCE! Gray Mule
With decent assistant coaches, Lon will be fine. Remember, last season Hawks had so many bench players starting and the lower end of the bench coming in to relieve them, constant moving players around while trying to find someone, any one, to step foreward. When Hawks finally got some of the veteran players well enough to take the floor, Hawks began to win. "Almost" healthy, still no Theo, we made a run for the last playoff spot but it was too litle, too late. Hawks did, however, because of all the IR players, gain a lot of playing experience for our bench. If we can stay healthy, with what we now have as starters and all the experience that we now have on the bench, and another year's experience as an N.B.A. coach, Lon will be fine as a head coach. Go Hawks ! Let the season begin!! Gray Mule
