I'm sorry but I'm not in agreement with paying Newble what he wants. There are others. However, I think we need to get Willis.

Why?

We need a big Body.

WIth Theo, Nazr, Reef, and Hendu we have a lot of Undersized Guys playing PF and C. Willis could come in and change that whole dynamic. He offers size and we would be able to play Nazr and Theo at PF from time to time.

The second thing is that CC is hurt.

That means we can bring in someone to replace him as well.

While most say Ira... I still say NO. IF Ira doesn't want a reasonable contract, let him go to the open market.

I'm betting that we can do very well with a Defensive Veteran Shooting Gaurd? Can you say STARKS?

I bet that he would take 1 million and when CC comes back we can release either he or Email?

If we really start feeling ourselfs...

We trade for Barry.

Maybe: CC/Email/1st for Barry/2nd?

Seattle is rebuilding. I think they'd do it.

It helps us because Barry is consistent.

JT/DD

Barry/Glover

Big Dog/DJ

SAR/Hendu

Theo/Nazr/Willis

with One to get? Maybe... Mooookkkkkiee.

I would love to have that lineup, Barry is solid on defense and isn't ridiculously overpaid. Another guy I would like to have is Artest, he's up for an extension soon and they have too many SF's (Al, Artest, Bender) and not enough minutes to give them. If we could get Artest without giving up a starter, I would love that too.

I think he should be paid fairly. But he's not deserving of a full MCE or anything like that. I still think he could be a HUGE contributor for us, even moreso with bigdog in the lineup. I mean what if DJ just doesn't step up his defense? We need at least ONE guy on the perimeter who can play hardnosed in your face D on the other teams 2/3. JT can't do it and Bigdog doesn't do it. If DJ can't do it someone like Ira would be KEY. We have more than enough scoring in the starting lineup as it is and his 10ppg would be more than enough.

i love the idea of bringing barry here, he would be a very good fit (kinda like a shorter, younger, but better shooter version of toni kukoc). however, i am not sure if the sonics will do this trade.

i don't think john starks will help. i don't mind seeing mookie back if we traded e-mail away. and i would love to see willis in a hawks uniform again.

I think that seattle would want more than that for barry...

what is the deal with Haslem? I remember at least one article that stated that he was a pleasant surprise... I'd rather have haslem at a minimum contract than oakley who was washed up 2 years ago or Willis who would want more money than haslem and has less than a gallon of regular in his tank...

So how long is CC supposed to be out anyway?

If we trade for a starting caliber SG like Barry, I think Glover needs to be included in the deal. Since DJ wouldn't be starting we would need him to be the primary BU at SG and SF so he could at least get 25+ minutes of playing time. With him and Glover (assuming Glover would play too), DJ would only get about 15, 20 minutes at most. So....(Throw in Glover instead of the 1st rounder.)

1.DG/CC/E-mail for Barry

2.Sign a VET SG/SF that can handle the ball and play decent perimeter D.

3.Maybe sign either Haslem or another young player to fill the roster.

DOG/???vet???

SAR/HENDU/Haslem?

THEO/NAZ/WILLIS

I like the thought of a JT/Barry/Dog/SAR/Theo starting lineup. Barry doesn't necessarily need the shots but make him if you need him to and is a quick player who can run with JT instead of JT outrunning all of his passing possibilities down the court on fastbreaks. T-erry and B-arry, I bet we could come up with some decent nicknames for them two using the last part of there last names. I'd definitely like to see us against SAC in the Finals.

JT-Bibby

Barry-Christie

Dog-Peja

SAR-Webber

Theo-Divac

We match up with them very well considering how good of a team they are. I know I'm getting a little too excited, let's win some regular season games first.

1)it doesnt hurt to get one more SOLID CENTER on this team. Mohammed is the only TRUE CENTER we have on our team and he isint too big for a center either.

2)I dont think its a big deal that we need to find a replacement for CC. I mean, with the BIG DOG, how many minutes would the backup SF play? This just means more minutes for GLOVER and JOHNSON (which im okay with).

Johnson starts at SG, Glover backups both SG/SF positions.

3)Starks is a possiblity and i know that he wouldnt mind a vet minimum to play again in this league (didnt he take a VET MIN to play in UTAH?)... only question is, does he still have it?

4)CC/Email/1st for Barry wouldnt work. They could do better for BARRY- In my opinion. He would be a nice starting SG on this team (limited shots, good defense, and 3 point shooter). But i think we gotta give up GLOVER to get him.

I want Ira. I am a Ira fan. Now, I do like Barry and if I had my choice between the two, I would take Barry. Newble to me, was the brightest thing for the Hawks last year. The brightest thing that we really didn't expect, is what I mean. He has a great attitude and approach to the game. I love when he gets called for a foul he didn't commit. Doesn't loose his cool and gives that mad stare, like everybody else does in the NBA. He matched up well defensively, against other teams top offensive player. He's got good hops. Agressive on the boards. His offensive game improved dramically over the coarse of the season, I thought. I really want to see Ira here this year. Now, I don't try to get caught up into what players make, or what they think they should make. If you are allowed to go over the salary cap and just pay a luxary tax. I hate to see money be the reason for a player not playing with us. Now, if you couldn't go over the cap, that would be a different story. Since you can, then I just assume AOL coughs the money up.

Nawbie turned around our defense in the second half

of last season. I don't want to "Sell the farm" to have

him back, but we are so much better with him than

without him, surely there is some way the two sides can

agree on a contract.

As good as we believe that Hawks will be next season,

we really need our defensive specialist back. He shut

down or slowed down some of the leagues best last

season. We have no one on the present roster who can

do what he did.

As you might have guessed Nique21 is not the only one

who is a fan of Newbie. Hope we get him back.

I think that there are many things responsible for the turn around of our defense in the second half. Newble did do his share, however:

1. Moving JT to the Point and away from the Shooting Gaurd is one.

2. Moving DJ into the starting Lineup is another.

3. The team defensive chemistry coming together is a third.

Newble wants good money, but I don't think that he's that much of an important cog. IN fact, Theo is back. That means that our inside should be a little better. Not to mention that DJ is getting even better defensively. Right now, I would say that Newble vs. Willis is the decider. Now if Newble is ready to sign a reasonable contract like 2 yrs 3 million, I say we take him. We could just as easily take him and eat Email's contract once CC comes off of IL. However, Willis is our man because Theo cannot be counted on to stay healthy and we do need one legit 7'0 er.
