  1. We didn’t sign Wright. We traded scraps for him.
  2. Between Lou’s contributions in the playoffs and this likely being his last season, Nate may feel like he needs to give him a longer leash. But we can’t really afford that sentimentality so hopefully Wright gets back in there soon.
  3. Revenge for what? They were the ones making those calls.
  4. Case in point. Win 88 games in a trash division and then dominate the playoffs.
  5. I know some of you have been doing a lot longer than I have, but after watching the Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and Dawgs religiously for ~20 years I wasn't sure I would ever get to see a champion. And of all seasons for it to happen. Only disappointment was Ronald not being on the field for it, but we don't make the playoffs without his MVP first half. I'll have more thoughts in the morning. For now, Jorge Soler and Max Fried are the baddest dudes on the planet.
  6. Team just looks clumsy, careless, and low IQ right now. Was frustrating to see Hunter unable/unwilling to take advantage of his matchup with Curry. Was frustrating to see every pass intercepted and shot blocked.
  7. This was looking like one of those frustrating hero ball losses from Trae. Glad we pulled it out. Shoutout to Wright for a terrific 11 minutes.
  8. I hope they try the 3 7-footers thing again. I feel like that would be bad for them on both ends against our lineup.
  9. I've been on the 1 seed hype. I think we can get it with talent and depth alone, but we also aren't likely to coast as much as our veteran competition. Just need some luck in the health department.
  10. His whole shtick is being confidently incorrect. Most famously when he said the Warriors had no chance to win a championship. It’s when he jumps on the bandwagon that you have to worry.
  11. Couldn't have asked for a better opener than that. Being able to roll out a full bench unit of killers is unfair. And Hunter's defense on Luka was incredible.
  12. It's a shame how much talented is being wasted between Simmons and Kyrie. But Philly and Brooklyn are two of our biggest obstacles so....not that much of a shame.
  13. I don't know about the work ethics of his previous teams, but it is a fair point that the best team he has ever played for went 30-42. He got his start with a team that went 10-72. Nate and a stacked roster coming off of a ECF run should bring out the best in him. If he truly wants to be good.
  14. Surprised he’s only 25. Feels like he’s been a disappointment for much longer. I don’t hate taking a flier on him.
  15. I’d probably go Tatum, Mitchell, Fox, Bam, and JC in that order. Guys that can create their own offense are just more valuable. It would be interesting to see what Isaac could do if he ever stayed healthy.
  16. He may be. It's not like Cam or Hunter have really established themselves and anything is possible. But until we see him against NBA level competition we're just guessing.
  17. It's disappointing not getting to see more of him with the Hawks. I really liked his combination of size, skill, athleticism, and intelligence. Odds are he'll never make a big splash in the league, but if any recently undrafted player is going to do it I'd put money on him.
  18. I don't love the idea of paying JC over $20 million a year, but I feel like it would be worse to let him walk. A worse version (on paper) of our current roster was 2 games away form the Finals. Gotta run it back.
  19. Trae isn’t being singled out. So many players abuse these calls and it really does need to be changed. Also I’m pretty sure this was all proposed before the Hawks did anything in the playoffs.
  20. Probably not, but we’re talking about next season and beyond.
  21. How can you not have those expectations now? We were 2 games away from the Finals with very little experience and crucial injuries to multiple starters. Our roster still has so much room to grow. Cam and OO especially have to feel really good about how they finished the season and they'll (hopefully) finally have a real offseason to improve and hone their skills. With luck in the injury department there's no reason this team can't compete for the #1 seed. We're going to have so much depth and continuity if JC returns.
  22. I think getting Hunter and Cam back in the lineup will go a long way towards helping our bigs. Plus OO is still a kid and he was already locking up two MVP candidates at times.
  23. Ditto to all the positivity. I will say we potentially threw away 2 of these games by going to Trae when he obviously did not have it. That was my main disappointment since it was completely in our control. Would have rather gone out with Cam firing away.
  24. I’m not sure what the complaint is? The team is obviously trying to win now. Are you upset with fans who aren’t ready to throw themselves off a building if the inexperienced and injured underdog team doesn’t go all the way? I’m personally thrilled with how the season has turned out even if we lose the next 2. Sorry

    The Tank Thread

    1. No, JC and Huerter were not the result of tanking, but they were the result of great scouting. Which makes rebuilding through the draft a much more appealing strategy. 2. We were tied for the 3rd worst record in 2018 and tied for the 3rd best odds of getting #3. Sure, it was lucky not to drop to 5 or 6, but we put ourselves in that position by tanking. 3. We gave up a ton for Hunter. Definitely not luck to get him. And while it may have been lucky to scoop up Cam at 10 (jury still out), we were very much unlucky in the lottery that year. Schlenk also projected the Mavs to finish around that spot, so again, not luck. 4. Not sure how we lucked into Okongwu. Seems like he was always one of the main players projected to be there at 6. And it took an entire season of being patient with him to have him finally be in a position to contribute now. There are lucky breaks in every success story, but I think you're way off on chalking that all up to luck. Schlenk is just damn good at his job.
