  1. Wow this thread lolol... Give credit to Bud but not to Ferry (who signed Bud). Brilliant! I will leave here and never post again for the sake of my IQ.
  2. What has happened in the past is no indicator of what will happen in the future. The NBA is changing, evolving. Anything can happen and the focus should be on making the TEAM the best that we can possibly make it, and NOT on tanking or trading away assets for ball hogs, because A) Superstars won't come here via FA B) The draft is a complete crapshoot regardless of record C) that style of play is quickly showing to become obsolete at winning championships. Tim Duncan may have been a superstar in his prime, but he isn't anymore, the difference between him and Horford/Millsap is not as large as some of you make it out to be. Anyway who was the MVP of the finals last year? Was it "superstar" Duncan? superstar Lebron? superstar Wade? Bosh? Nope, it was Kawhi "may never make an all star team in his entire career" Leonard. The Spurs without a clear MVP type player in their entire roster last year completely dsimantled a team composed of the MVP (and top 5 player all time), and two perennial All Stars. In fact they would have beat them twice in two years if it weren't for a miracle shot by Ray Allen.
  3. Good point... Still I have faith that the city will get behind this team the way it deserves.
  4. From what I saw on TV it looked like the best Tuesday night crowd I've seen at Phillips in a regular season game.
  5. Pero has played a lot better on both ends since we got hot. I have been a big time critic but he has picked up his game, and one bad play during a stretch where most of our players forgot how to play basketball shouldn't be held against him the way some of the posters on here are doing imo.
  6. I loved that team too, though knowing that we would obviously lose to the Bulls in the playoffs tempered excitement a bit. With the east the way it is now though, I feel we have a good chance at making some noise when it counts... aaaand that's something I've never really felt before.
  7. I started following this team in 96 and this is by far the best team I've seen. Scary thing is, I think we can definitely play even better (Horf has not hit his stride, Mills hopefully will start getting some calls, Jeff getting back from injury)
  8. Josh Smith has a negative win share in each of his last three seasons. When one of the worst teams in the league is willing to pay him 30 million dollars not to play in games I would think it would be enough of a warning flag for teams to stay away. Glad I'm wrong lol
  9. The big bad West doesn't seem all that big and all that bad from where I'm standing.
  10. Count me in as a one who enjoys watching the nightly hissy fits by our opponents. It's like they can't believe the Hawks, of all teams, are completely crushing them and they turn to the refs for help. "but...but... we have Lebron! but...but.. we have Harden! but...but... we have Drik and Rondo! GIVE us the calls! Waaah waaaah" Meanwhile we continue to methodically undress them infront of their own fans. Beautiful
  11. What makes our current play even sweeter is the fact we had to endure Anti-basketball with Woodson for so long. Getting rid of all these head case "stars in their own minds" type of players and getting no nonsense hard working selfless good all around guys is doing things the right way. All thanks to Ferry.
  12. Millsap would have had a huge night if he got ANY damn calls at all. What's it take for Millsap to get star calls? If he got the type of calls Harden gets he would be MVP material.
  13. Maybe it's me being a homer, but I like Carrol better than Ariza regardless of price tag.
  14. Moving the ball and making wide open shots is sort of a prerequisite to be able to play in Bud's system. Neither are Smith's strong points.
  15. I have liked every move this guy has made. The results at this point should speak for themselves.
  16. I don't understand why our fans have to pick sides on our own players. The team is a few miracle shots from Orlando and Charlotte away from first place and ppl still want to put our players down. Mack has shown he can play at a very nice level with a great year off the bench last season so he should get every opportunity to continue to see minutes. Today should be proof of this.
  17. Underrated little performance of the day to me has to be Kyle Korver's. He didn't score the points or have the stats but I'm telling you watching that white russian dude almost puke out his lungs from having to chase him all over the court was awesome. Love the way our players play the game.
  18. I feel I was one of the posters with a more optimistic outlook on this year, but I have to say even I am completely blown away by how good we are and so soon. If we had, had a few calls and a bit of luck earlier on in the year we would be probably sitting alone atop first place right now.
  19. Dennis was awesome tonight in his first start. If it weren't for Mack going all MJ he would have finished with some incredibely impressive stats himself
  20. My favorite moment of the game outside of our third string point guard outplaying the entire Cavs team in the second quarter was Horford just absolutely eating Kevin "gotta be one of the most overrated players in recent times" Love's LUNCH. Hawks are legit, and to all the pro tankers out there, take a look at the 76ers and tell me how much better we'd be if we traded all our players in the desperate miracle attempt at landing the next Lebron. There should be a long line of Hawks' fans should be lining up to kiss Ferry's nuts right now, because what he has put together despite little to no fan support, and no interest from top free agents is a a thing of beauty. In the last month or so there is no team in the NBA outside of the Warriors that has played better than the Hawks in either conference. FACT.
  21. Sixers basically collapses in the paint and dared our players to take jumpshots (that's why we took 20 threes in the first quarter). Usually, this wouldn't be a great sttrategy against us considering we are a top shooting team, but shots were not falling today so we struggled on offense.
  22. Good stuff, love cheering against these New York teams. Looking at their roster and how bad Deron and Brook Lopez have looked so far this year, I think Boston and Orlando have a shot at finishing with better records.
  23. Seeing Brooklyn look absolutely putrid the last couple of weeks and seeing our Hawks look like a top seed, couldn't help but wonder what the status with the draft pick swap is. I seem to recall that just like last year we have the right to swap this season also. Am I wrong? If not, is there some sort of protection on the Brooklyn pick? I'm sure several of you could enlighten me. Adding a top pick and keeping Millsap would make for a wonderful offseason next year.
  24. The way Jeff came out in the third quarter against the heat, after Schröder dominated the end of the first half, was a thing of beauty. Both Bosh and Wade brought their A game tonight but neither of them was as impactful as Jeff. You can see that the competition from Schröder is clearly driving Teague and only making him better. The 1-2 punch we are developing with these two is something I've never seen before in this league and I'm loving it.
  25. No wonder Indiana fell apart after trading for this guy. What a complete LOSER.
