  1. I commented on one of Lukas YT vids that was breaking down why he is struggling and out of shape, One thing you dont have to worry about with Trae, is being out of shape. Not only does he have crazy work ethic, but he can't gain a pound to save his life. Dont show me any more offseason photos of him being jacked, his arms still have zero definition on gameday. And thats fine. He is small, quick, and can score anywhere he wants. I dont need him to gain a ton of weight. I'd much rather have a small Trae than guys like Luka and Zion that will have to monitor everything they do for their entire careers just to keep them semi in shape.
  2. Exactly. I did the same thing when I was coach of our intramural team. Its all political really, making your best argument to get the refs to be on your side. I would loudly yell to the team that the refs werent calling fouls for our us, and not to expect a whistle in our favor. I made sure the refs heard me and took offense. We got the next few calls in our favor just to spite me I truly believe. Refs are humans and you can press on their judgement. Nash probably likes that call for his guys, but against him he has to make it sound so bad that the refs start to hesitate just a little bit.
  3. Possibly. Maybe This team is going to be at 85% strength AT BEST all season it seems. Especially if they are going to sit Rondo even after days off and only 15-16 minutes played the previous game. Im not a fan but it makes us stronger when we do get guys like Dunn, Gallo, OO, and Snell back. That's a ton of firepower on the mend, plus the limited availability of Rondo. Looks like the "Core" this year will be Tre-Cam-Dre-JC-Clint-Bogi and Kev. Gallo when he is healthy but that's not looking likely, so I will consider him a Rondo type for now. A key player with 50% availability. Backup PG will be random due to health and availability. Hill and Bruno will see more or less minutes depending on who is available each night. Gallo should take most of their minutes when healthy, and then OO may end being up a factor. Snell could be a matchup activation if we need more firepower, Hill for defense. Long story short, we better get used to missing guys and learning how to win "short" handed. You only need 9 contributing bodies in rotation most nights and there arent many guys Im really worried about seeing the court on this roster. It was Knight and Mays, but it's probably only Mays now after how well Knight has done. I just want guys to get healthy so WE can make the call on who to sit. Right now we are getting by with a patchwork bench unit.
  4. I agree with everything in this article except the part Dallas. https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2924700-1-hot-take-for-every-nba-team-after-first-week.amp.html
  5. When I watch live, I only see bits and pieces of plays and defensive assignments, mostly individual matchups. These breakdowns are a game changer. The defensive breakdowns were a matter of split second decisions. Guys not knowing whether to fully commit to help, aggressively switch, etc... Most of it is feel and timing. Only a handful were just plain old mistakes like the Harris backdoor on Solo, as well as Trae getting caught ball watching before Harris gets open behind a screen. I truly think that the defense wont gel until the guys really can learn each other and trust each other. The extra millisecond of thinking, figuring out what your teammate is doing and how to play off of him, is what allowed for a ton of shots that were open but contested. Those will start to go away over time due to chemistry and familiarity. Great stuff.
  6. Nash was very complimentary of Trae and the Hawks after the game
  7. Until Capela or Gallo are both consistently available and making an impact on the court, any talk about JC not being needed should be put to bed. And even when they do get up and running, and argument for JC can still be made. Lets hope for the best for all Hawks players until they no longer are wearing the Red, Black and Yellow.
  8. Cam is locked in on KD !!!!! I think I might cry
  9. I saw a youtube comment about Trae that said in addition to new teeth, he also got a new chin this offseason. Does anyone else notice or think so?
  10. Riddle: What do the words ATLANTA HAWKS & BROOKLYN NETS both have in common? Answer: No "D"
  11. We better learn how to slow these guys down before Ky-D start heating up. Nets keeping pace with the supporting cast right now.
  12. Kyrie should have been whistled for that contact. Adds insult to injury
  13. Jarrett Allen better than Collins? Shiddddd, JC just took Allen's lunch right there lol
  14. Cam is giving KD a hard time right now. Looks like the story was true about those summer runs.
  15. Cam on KD, and Dre on Kyrie to start the game. A lot of respect to the youngins by coach.
  16. True, I was at the first game he broke out against them. I had never seen anyone move like that before. He is a natural when he can just play ball. Too much thinking really slows him down.
  17. Im more curious who the Nets start with Dinwiddie out. That'll let us know what matchups we will see. For example, whether or not JC has to guard KD or Trae on Kyrie, or if we can hide them on other guys. Cam on Kyrie, Dre on KD, Trae on the SG, JC on the other forward if KD starts at the 3. If KD is at the 4 you cant hide JC. If Lavert starts you dont want Trae on him either lol
  18. Hill is hungry. He said as much after the game, being in the Finals puts a taste in your mouth and gives you a sense of urgency. Not taking anything for granted. People make fun of him for Baze-ing (doing too much) but its the effort by example that the young guys need to see. Against Chicago I saw Gallo grab Trae when he was walking back on D chirping about a non-call. Gallo's hand entered the camera frame and pulled Trae's jersey. Like he was saying, "Pay attention " Rondo literally directing bodies on the court and not budging until guys are set. It's the small details that make a huge impact and these vets are being persistent in their demand for focus and effort. Its may not happen overnight, but things will click for this young core sooner or later. They are teaching great habits.
  19. And the Pels are getting rocked by the Suns. This is who they wanted to showcase instead of the Hawks?
  20. Some of them seem as if he is forcing it. I dont mind them in rhythm, if there ever was such as thing as a rhythm logo bomb. But you get what I mean. When the ball moves and happens to find him I dont mind those shots. I dont dont mind the 2 step, right-left hesi shots. But the stand still, pound the rock then launch ones early in the clock without moving the ball, I agree can all go.
  21. Think about this, once O and Gallo come back, that means we no longer see Hill at PF or Collins at the 5 for long stretches
  22. John has to get better at staying on his feet defensively. And not reaching to make silly contact fouls. Its hard to produce from the bench because you pick up 2 fouls in the 1st quarter of every game. Once he cleans that up, he has a better chance to stay on the floor and get in to a rhythm.
  23. Alright, thats 2 more new faces we have yet to add in to the mix that are close. Things are looking up. Kris Dunn will be a bit longer but maybe ww have him for a playoff run.
