  1. What decent center can you get at that price though? I'm guessing Ferry isn't a fan I'm just surprised there is no backup plan. I mean we don't really have a center yet other than Horford. I'm fine with Horford at center but not so much against lopez and hibbert. I have no idea why its quoting twice everytime. sorry.

    Mike Scott

I thought he played great last season. I think he could see more minutes this year. Not sure he can play SF and we are kind of log jammed at the 4.
  3. We are really shallow at the 2 guard and center right now. We can probably find a capable backup center but not sure where we are looking for a good 2 guard.
  4. Plus you think he really wanted to play for the guy who only played him because he was totally out of healthy guards. I know he wanted to stay with NVE probably but once he gets going all these feelings will go away.
  5. No kidding. There is due diligence plus Monta just got signed so who knows maybe if they could have gotten Monta they let Teague walk. I doubt it but there is no point to doing anything with RFAs until you have to. The Hawks will be paying Jeff $8 million for 4 years so its hard to imagine him staying pissed about not feeling the love. He's going to like playing with a functional team for hopefully a very decisive and supportive coach.
  6. that's what they all say. They can't say boy i hope the Hawks match. They always say they want to be with the team that puts the money on the table. Josh said the same thing about Memphis. The feelings can be repaired. I'm really happy to have Teague back. He is awesome and about to break out. He averaged 7 assists with a guy on the floor missing 10-20 jumpers a game. This will be a big season for him.
  7. And there is zero chance of either happening so why not. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. I"m optimistic that not only will this be a good team but that support will actually improve when we don't continually let the fans down in big games. We should be tougher.
  8. Exactly. And i wouldn't say Gwinnett is chock full of nba fans. They will have the same reaction to a team of milsap, horford, and korver. Just like downtown i don't see gwinnett showing up except for Lebron and Kobe.
  9. I know this isn't the big leagues but I disagree with the Gwinnett theory: http://thesportseconomist.com/2011/09/02/the-honeymoon-is-already-over-in-gwinnett/
  10. I like exciting wing players and I think Korver, Lou, and hopefully Jenkins fit that bill despite not being high flyers. I'm not as big on exciting rebounders. I prefer the old fashioned, fundamental rebounders who actually end up with the ball rather than try to throw a one handed jam off the iron.
  11. What do you mean. That seems pretty straightforward. I really like Devin and would have liked to keep him especially at a good price but i'm guessing he wanted to go.
  12. #2 in FAs left at cnnsi ahead of jennings and ellis http://nba.si.com/2013/07/09/andrew-bynum-jeff-teague-best-remaining-nba-free-agents/
  13. Exactly. He doesn't want to have to guard Dwight and the 2 or 3 other huge guys in the league but for the rest of the nba what difference does it make? I'm glad DF's number one goal for the offseason wasn't making sure Horford gets to be fulltime PF. One of the things that makes him very valuable is we can play him at the 4 or 5. I mean look at some of the guys playing center in the damn finals, Bosh, Diaw, Haslem.
  14. People have been touting washington for a decade and they always suck. They will suck again. Milwaukee, to me, looks terrible but I do have faith that LD knows how to make a playoff team out of loose change. To think about what our roster was last year and where we ended up we should be very optimistic this year. Even if our rotation is Teague/Lou/Jenkins/Korver/Carroll/Milsap/Horford and some random vets that's equal to or slightly better than last years squad. this is assuming Bud can coach of course. The big thing is that we're not done. I don't expect that to be the roster. This ownership needs money. They can't asorb a 5 year rebuild.
  15. I think its a great deal but like he said in the nba its hard to give out a bad 2 year deal. Especially for a quality player like Milsap.
  16. We need to admit that nothing was offered for Josh. I'm sure we could have had a kings ransom of trash from around the league but its better to get nothing than bad contracts and bad players. Josh ends up signing with a really bad team with no real indication that there was a bidding war for his services.
  17. Just like I encourage parents to do when watching their little leaguer we should all be screaming "you suck" half way through his first at bat.
  18. I agree with the article that I can't believe he signed for this amount for just two years. I think Hawks fans are quickly going to love him.
  19. He actually said it is a nightmire. I don't agree with that either. It was more of the same scams as usual. As soon as Rivers got to the clippers we were screwed. Dwight wasn't coming here without Paul. I had hope that we could get Paul though. I think its all shady. I think we are better off than last season. Milsap has a better impact on the game than Josh. We will fill out our roster but lets face it the core of the team last year was Teague/Harris/Korver/Lou/Josh/Horford. We're replacing Josh with Milsap, added a good wing defender in Carroll. Hopefully Jenkins will be a rotation player. So we haven't really changed much except lost a a guy who chucked a lot of bad shots and was a pretty big distraction.
  20. Its difficult. You talk about Ferry not pulling things off in his one year on the job but you know at the start of every season there are anywhere from 5-8 real contenders in the whole damn league. That's either a lot of inept GMs or just not enough talent to go around. And add in that the league and its cohorts do their best to protect the 'stars' and big franchises. The Rockets are sitting good now because they managed to land a second tier superstar in trade and then a superstar in FA because of it. Were the Rockets better than most of the nba last year? Hell no. They were decidedly average but they had a face, a scorer. This is why priority one isn't to get Al Horford a two bit center so he can play PF. Priority one, in absence of an all star free agent is to land quality players and keep your flexibility in hopes that you can pounce when the opportunity comes up. Plus, the rockets haven't done squat yet. Remember when McGrady and Yao were going to bring a title?
  21. Well for one we are still at the beginning stages of building next year's team, we drafted a center in the 1st round, Milsap can play SF, and if you look at the FA list there are still plenty of guys available in Zaza and Ivan's talent range if not better.
  22. The only reason I can see that Josh for Asik didn't happen is Houston didn't want him. They probably saw that having a frontcourt that can't shoot or hit a free throw will be death come playoff time. I like Josh a lot but I think Dumars out bid himself.
