  1. Hopefully he has a little 'goon' in him as well because that's another role that will always be valuable in the NBA. Controlled 'goonery' has its place. He needs to study Draymond Green because I think he has mastered the art of combining 'goonery' with skill, BBIQ, and hustle.
  2. I don't like this rumor at all. I see no reason to throw Trae in the fire. I also think it's not good business to sell low on Dennis like we did with Lou. Let Dennis play and up his value before the trade deadline.
  3. They won't be "bad", but with the Lakers taking one of those lower Playoff spots out West it's getting mighty competitive out there. It won't be easy. I'd take their 1st next season. It should at least be in the teens.
  4. Okay now this is TRIFLING! (guten Morgen, everyone! ~lw3). The mods can warn me all they want, but I know (TRIFLING!) when I see it. Welcome to ignore.
  5. You don't have to tear down Trae to build up Dennis. The Hawks have two capable point guards. That's a nice "problem" to have.
  6. It's time to shut Collins down. A part of me wants to see him keep playing for the sake of SL entertainment, but he's shown enough and he's hitting the deck way too much.
  7. Okay, I'll be the first to say it. Spellman looks like a young Al Horford out there. Not bad for the 30th pick.
  8. This kid hasn't even been a Hawk for a week and he's already openly recruiting superstars to come play with him. I absolutely love that. I love the direction the Hawks are going.
  9. If fans loved Pero they're also going to love Spellman.
  10. He was traded for 2 future 2nd Rounders.
  11. Bold prediction. I like it. The fans will fall in love with Huerter and Spellman by the All Star break. These guys are real deal players.
  12. Dennis might not even be here after tonight. That's cold!
  13. They better be. It's going to be like the early years here on the Squawk when those guys show up. I don't remember those days fondly.
  14. He played in the Big 3 and looked like he could still play in the NBA if he wanted too. But half court and whole court basketball are two different things.
  15. Trae young is NOT slow at all. He was a devastating offensive weapon that teams had to account for as soon as he crossed half court. No team in the NBA can afford to double and triple team the PG like that. They know would get picked apart if they tried to do that. Trae will have a lot more breathing room in the NBA like he did at the beginning of the college season before the hype.
  16. I say let the beast run free next season. This kid is Shawn Kemp 2.0. He was wiry strong as a Rookie and will be much stronger next season. With his desire to mix it up inside, he will be a monster in the post. He also added the 3 pointer late in the season and I expect continued improvement there as well. I think he's going to really blow up next season. I don't think him averaging a double double next season is out of the question.
  17. That's way out of context and you know it.
  18. Not misplaced values, just common sense. What I think he 'deserved' has nothing to do with it. I'm not his employer. If your employer(s) already don't like you, it's wise not to give them a reason to let you go. He flippantly used profanity and made disparaging remarks about a free agent's nationality during a presentation to his employers at a multi million dollar company. All he had to do was show some professionalism by proofreading and then paraphrasing the scouting report. I don't get why this is so hard for some people to understand. Forget the politics or social aspects of it. Be a professional in a professional setting.
  19. If Ferry hadn't said what he said, there would be no recording to give to the press. He's accountable. Someone can have it out for me and record me coming in late or sleeping on the job. The guy who did the recording may be a horrible human being but I'm still accountable for my behavior.
  20. It happens all the time in the real world. If he conducted himself with rigor and formality in a professional setting, there would be no scandal and he wouldn't have been fired, at least not at that time. He brought it on himself.
  21. I couldn't phrase this any better. He got run out of town before the negative consequences of his drafting and short term deals could catch up with him. He also came off as a condescending jerk, which is probably why not many on the Hawks staff spoke up for him when he was shown the door. Is he even working in the NBA right now? A while back, I remember him working as a "consultant" for some team. You'd think if he was that good of a GM, teams would be clamoring for his services.
