I can't agree with this enough. We don't need any Stephen Jacksons or Bob Suras this season. Scraping into the Playoffs. getting stomped, and then getting a pick in the mid to late teens is not acceptable when the Draft is pretty much our only avenue to get top tier talent on this team. I'm sure Schlenk knows that.

Give him minutes and feed him. The Hawks absolutely have to get better at passing to big men. Those entry passes and passes on cuts were atrocious.

Not good. Not good at all for a team that prides itself on bringing in high character guys. Hopefully this is all some sort of misunderstanding.

I'm glad somebody's optimistic about the upcoming season. I've been around since the 90's and have seen the extreme highs(60 wins) and extreme lows(13 wins). I'd rank this team somewhere between the 13 win team and the 38 win team when Bud first got here. I'm not necessarily "pro tank", but I see very little value in barely scraping into the Playoffs next season.

Of course he did. I've come to expect nothing less. Throw him on the pile with Terrell Brandon, Speedy Claxton, Danny Manning, Glenn Robinson, Antoine Walker, and Tiago Splitter. All of those guys were disappointing as Hawks. Joe and Sap are the only guys I can remember who got better AFTER coming here. I would have included Baze if he had not regressed last season.

^ This is why I'm not as hard on Smoove as other posters here are. The kid was a blank slate, and these were his 'vets'. How else was he supposed to turn out? That's why I'm glad the Hawks are emphasizing player development now. We wasted too much potential during the previous rebuild. We drafted guys that obviously needed work, but then failed to help them improve. There's no way guys like Smoove, Marv, and even Childress would've turned out the way they did under the current regime.

Good call. I'm still surprised the Knicks took the risk. If his accuser hadn't 'sexted' him prior to his late night visit he would probably be in prison.

I'm glad you posted this so I don't have to. Keep Rose as far away form the young guys as possible. 'Corrosive' isn't a strong enough word to describe the effect he could have on our younger players.

As much as I would like to see Collins, Bembry, and Prince in another game, I just don't see the point. While very entertaining, I don't see them getting better playing against NBA hopefuls. We've seen what we needed to see. Why take the risk for a meaningless game?

Ahhh, the memories. Athletic arrogance at it's finest. ATL needs this type of elite athleticism to get the 'casual' fans engaged. I really hope John Collins can be the guy to get the fans excited about Hawks basketball again. If he can do what he's doing in the Summer League during the regular season, it won't take long.

If that's your idea of fun, you're not going to enjoy watching the Hawks for a loooooooong time. That 60 win season was an anomaly.

The Hawks have always done stuff like that even to their own detriment. My stance is if it doesn't benefit the Hawks in some way, don't do it. I don't see these other teams giving the Hawks any breaks on trades and I don't see players giving the Hawks the time of day. I say stop helping these other teams. If we get a player in a trade and he doesn't want to play here, trade him for whatever we can get out of him. As far as Kelly is concerned, he got screwed by the Rockets after the trade, so I can understand why the Hawks are allowing him to audition for other teams in Summer League.

That's right, you get it. If next season is going to be a developmental season, at least play guys with some potential.
