  1. That explains a lot if true. Hopefully he'll get a little more slack for playing while hurt than Teague did. Regardless, we can't blame these guys for not being the superstar(s) this team needs.
  2. Fixed. That is if the Bucks are dumb enough to make that trade.
  3. A deal like that would cripple the Hawks. They would once again be locked into mediocrity long term. To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if the Hawks were ever really off the treadmill. Maybe the guys just overachieved last season?
  4. I really don't want to see Teague go. I'm not confident Schro is the answer at pg for this type of offense. But my opinion means less than nothing since Bud sees these guys everyday. But it was cool seeing Teague develop into what he is from the kid who couldn't get off the bench under Woodson. For all who question the mental make up of Teague, they need to go back to the Hawks vs Bulls Playoff series after Hinrich got hurt. He went right at the MVP of the league and put the league and Hawks fans on notice. How quickly we forget. Even injured he's still playing some of the best basketball of any PG we've had in over a decade.
  5. Jeff isn't making excuses, I saw him roll his ankle(s) at least twice that I can remember this season. They were pretty bad rolls too. Yet, he hasn't taken any games off to rest/heal. I think it's hurting his game since he depends on speed and quickness. No matter what some might think of Teague, you have to know that he's a much better player than what he's shown recently. When healthy, he's by far the best PG on this team, and it isn't even close.
  6. To be fair, I think Teague's recent play is a result of him turning his ankle... twice. He won't complain about it or sit out a game or two like he probably should, but it is affecting his performance on both ends of the court.
  7. Amen to that. I thought the Hawks were close last season until they played the depleted Cavs and got dominated. I realized then that this team needs more firepower if they hope to really compete for a Championship. It's kind of sobering to feel outmatched against elite teams again. I was really spoiled by the streak.
  8. Good game. Watson looked like the BEST player in college football last night. It's been a while since I've seen a dual threat quarterback be that lethal against a prepared defense. How the heck does GT/UGA keep letting these local kids get away?
  9. True, but I can't lie to myself any more about this team's chances or about Horf becoming the 20 and 10 guy this team needs. I'm certain that this season will end just like previous seasons. I'll do my best to enjoy the ride though as this team can play some pretty good basketball when everyone pulls their weight.
  10. If he comes cheap, then why not? He's having a rough year by his standards, but he would fit in a lot better here vs. Brooklyn since he will get plenty of open looks. We could move Baze to SG where he belongs AND move Korver to the bench(until he's 100%) where he belongs.
  11. I'm glad somebody else is seeing that. This team needs on court leadership badly. Bob was getting on Carmelo for getting into that stand off between Baze and Porzingis, but he was standing up for his teammate, which happens regularly in the NBA. I'm not saying he was 'right', but that happens all the time on other teams. What I found odd was how ALL of the Hawks seem to back down after he pushed Baze. They seemed too content to just talk trash while standing behind some else. I'm not saying I want to see another Malice in the Palace, but somebody has to step up and let the other team know that they won't be pushed around. This may not be what Jaybirdhawk meant by leadership, but I immediately thought of this when I read the above post.
  12. Barton is most likely unobtainable unless we trade Dennis or a marginal player plus picks for him. He would be an awesome addition to this team at SF but he's played his way out of 'cheap' territory. We should've gotten in on the ground floor if we wanted a decent SF on the cheap.
  13. Long was undersized but more than made up for it with his grit and willingness to mix it up inside. We could use Grant Long on this team right now to be honest.
  14. I couldn't have said this any better. Part of the benefit of having a system that doesn't utilize superstars should include not having to pay superstar money for players who are clearly not superstars.
  15. I hope you're right about that. With Korver struggling, the Hawks really need some help at SG that can actually put the ball in the basket. I liked Hardaway at Michigan, but he hasn't developed into the kind of player I thought he would be...yet.
  16. It doesn't have to be an either/or situation. There are great players out there that fit into systems similar to what the Hawks have. GSW and the Spurs are both teams that have superstar players and yet move the ball around. What I'm trying to say is it still takes great players to win Championships, but you can't get those players if you make a habit out of maxing lesser players out of desperation.
  17. I like this team but to max everyone out is to be locked in purgatory once again. To be completely honest, this team isn't winning a championship and we don't have any superstars so I have to question why anyone on this team would 'expect' a max deal. I can stomach Sap's deal because he has played up to his contract. But I'm tired of the Hawks being 'capped out' with relatively mediocre talent on the team. It's not my money, but to offer Horf a max deal just because we can't get anybody else is the same kind of decision making that led to the Joe Johnson contract.
  18. The trade is looking worse by the minute. We should've just kept Oubre, or drafted Portis if we didn't like Oubre. But we went into the Draft KNOWING we needed an SF.
  19. It will be hard to catch up to the Cavs but #2 is well within reach. I'd still like to see the Hawks get into the kind of rhythm they had last season around this time. They've played 'ok", but their play during the 19 game win streak was GSW like. That was some of the best basketball I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of basketball. The offensive execution was flawless and the defense was stifling. I haven't seen that this season, at least not yet.
  20. I promised myself that I would NEVER resort to gif or meme posting but reading the title of this thread made me think of this:

    Al Horford

^ This +1000. I've come to the realization that Horf is what he is at this point. He's a good(not great) player and a great locker room guy. But is that really worth a max contract? The softness during the ECF and this season is a HUGE let down.
  22. I agree. Getting your leg broken/ligaments shredded should never be a part of getting arrested, especially if the person getting arrested is offering little to no resistance. There's been this disturbing 'understanding' lately that it's ok for the police to inflict serious bodily harm on a suspect. I'm seeing a lot of, "he/she shouldn't have talked back", "he/she should've moved faster", or "he shouldn't have ran" to justify everything up to and including murder. On what planet is choking people to death, severing spinal cords, breaking legs, and shooting people multiple times in the back acceptable by those who we pay to protect and serve?
