  1. The whole 1st ballot, 2nd ballot, stuff is stupid. If a guy is getting in, then what difference should it make? I'll be very happy when the old geezers stop voting. I'm sick of hearing about old timers not getting in on the 1st ballot, so such and such should'nt get in. Craig Biggio is a hall of famer, and he deserves to get in on the 1st ballot.
  2. Quote: Now what do all the Vick nuthuggers have to say about their precious little can't do anything wrong punk? Still want to call anyone who even dared to "suggest" that Schaub might be a better option in some aspects stupid and ignorant. While Schaub will be suiting up for his team, Vick very well may be suiting up in a uniform with a longer number. And to think he was still acting arrogant as can be just a few weeks ago during interviews. Sad. Wouldn't consider myself a Vick Nuthugger, but a Falcon Fan who believed Mike Vick gave the Falcons a better chance of winning than Matt Schaub. As I have stated previously, these guys are football players to me, nothing more. I was a Falcon fan before Mike Vick, and I'll be a Falcon fan for the next guy. I'm still happy they traded Schaub, because they acquired extra picks, which are more valuable to this team than he would have been in a non-wco. If Vick is convicted, then he will just join a long line of professional athletes who were too stupid to realize what they had. Hopefully the Falcons can rebound, and those that hate or love Vick can take their silly a**es back to their holes, so the true Falcon Fans can support their team again.
  3. Quote: Where are we playing Summer League? I just looked on Nba.com and it didnt have us as one of the teams listed that is playin in Vegas. Am I missing something here? http://www.ksl.com/?nid=294&sid=1433869 According to that link, the Hawks are playing in the Rocky Mountain Revue.
  4. 15 on the roster, but only 12 active for games.
  5. Honestly, I have only seen him once or twice, and I was impressed. Some of the comparisons I have seen on this board are ridiculous.
  6. Quote: The concensus best player to play where tell me? To come off the freaking bench. We already have our starting forwards and already had 2 lottery picks coming off the bench. Al Horford will make 3 lotterys picks coming off the pine for us. Also Law is not a true point guard he is a shooter chucker who cant defend very well. He what 3 inches taller then Salim get real this guy is not the right for us. I would have liked to get Conley JR at 3 and trade the 11th pick for Camby or a center. That's sort of what happens when you haven't made the playoffs in 8 years. Did you guys think all the lottery picks would start? The Hawks need talent, and they got it. The next move is to package some of the expiring contracts(they are very valuable), and try to trade for some veteran help.
  7. I'm not anti-Marvin, but I never understood how his chances of greatness were better than Chris Paul or Deron Williams (never was a Felton guy). I felt at the time, and still feel to this day that Marvin will be a Shareef type player, which is pretty darn good, but the team impact is not better than Paul or Williams.
  8. My choices without a trade (Gasol or Amare): #3-I'm on the fence with Conley,Horford, or Yi. The Hawks need to take the best player available regardless of position. #11-If #3 is Conley, then someone like Noah or best player available. If #3 is Yi or Horford, then Law.
  9. If that is true, this ownership situation is making it very difficult for me to continue to invest my hard earned money in the Hawks. Yeah, I'll still watch them on TV, but I don't think I'll be spending any money at Phillips Arena until this thing is resolved.
  10. Quote: Please note: We are waiting for other teams' FO to give green light. That says that it is NOT the Sonics deal. According to previous latest inf, Sonics already gave green light, and basically is waiting for us to say yes. So don't worry. It must be Amare or Gasol, or nothing. Yeah, I understand what Soth posted, but this is Billy Knight and the Atlanta Hawks. I won't be happy or relaxed until everything is done. lol
  11. Pau or Amare would really make my day. If BK is able to pull this off, I would forgive him for all of the blunders he has made so far. If he trades the 11th pick for Luke Ridnour, I'm going to boycott the Hawks until he is fired. Yeah, I'm one man, and my money might not mean much, but enough would be enough.
  12. Honestly, I would rather have JJ, Amare, Josh Smith, and Marvin Williams over Kobe, Smith, and Marvin. Trading for Kobe wouldn't make sense for him or the Hawks. He would simply go from one bad situation to another, and the Hawks would go into next season still needing a big man and also have a whiner in the locker room.
  13. I believe Heather Locklear was the only poster on my wall as a kid. In college, I had a Jordan and Nique Poster on my Dorm Wall.
  14. Quote: MLB has said that character should be considered when voting on potential HoF players. It's not just about raw numbers with them, as it is with the NFL. I don't know that you can get much lower character in sports than cheating. An admitted cheater like Gaylord Perry (among others) get's in, but not Bonds, Sosa, or McGwire? Quote: Apart from Sammy's HR totals and season records, he's not an HoF caliber player. The same goes for McGwire. Bonds, again, is the only one I was on teh fence about, but after remembering the above, I don't think he should get in either. What do you mean, apart from? Apart from Gaylord Perry and Phil Niekro's career wins, they are not hall of fame caliber pitchers? Quote: Baseball has to set the bar somewhere. Is it fair that there could be other guys who did it and didn't get punished? no, but it's not fair when a judge makes an example out of one guy when previous people got off much easier. That's how things go sometimes when we let things get out of hand, someone has to fall on the sword. Is it fair to be punished by "public opinion"? I'm not a Bonds, Sosa, or McGwire fan, but how can they be punished when there are no failed tests? That is baseball's problem, not the players. I want a real penalty for cheating. 1 year suspension the first time, and a lifetime ban the second. Right now, the system is a joke, and without positive tests I don't see how anyone can say these guys don't deserve to be inducted.
  15. I would like to see a positive test before I say a HOF caliber player should not be allowed in. As of right now, Sammy Sosa, McGwire, and Bonds have not failed tests, so they belong in the Hall. Pitchers who have admitted to, and were caught doctoring the ball are in the Hall of Fame, so why not allow guys who people think took steriods into the Hall of Fame.
  16. Quote: Quote: The Smoove fans are threatented by any guy who can possibly overshadow him in the frontcourt. And it's still not a given that Smoove has turned the corner as a player yet. We still have to see if this guy can put up at least 16 ppg - 8 rebs for an entire season, not just 1/2 of a season. No more "slow starts" for Smoove. It's put up or shut up time for him too, as well as for Marvin. If neither can play consistent basketball, we're going to need another guy like Horford to possibly take up the slack. Good news: Josh Smith played 72 games this season and averaged 16.4 and 8.6 for the whole season. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Quote: I watched between 75 and 100%. I was sick this week so I fell asleep during some games. I don't see how any NBA fan could not want to watch the NBA finals. That is honestly beyond me. I guess I must be losing my NBA fan membership, because I probably watched less than 10%. I felt bad, because people at work know I'm a big basketball fan, so when they asked me about the Finals, of course I had no answers for them. Maybe I peaked too early. Maybe it was watching my hometown Golden State Warriors, and the crowds at their home games. I don't know, but whatever it was, I lost interest after the Warriors were eliminated. The funny thing is, I was never much of a Warriors fan growing up, which I guess made it easier for me to become a Hawks fan when I moved to Atlanta in the 80's. Maybe when the Hawks make it back to the playoffs I'll regain that feeling.
  18. Quote: What is simple to see is that you can't have an undersized 4 next to an undersized 5 and not get killed unless they are dominant players and you play at a fast pace. /quote] That's my whole beef with the Smith/Zaza combo. Zaza is about 6'10", but he is a worse athlete than Nazr. I'm all for trading for Gasol, despite the fact that I know he is not a true center, and as long as the Hawks don't overpay for him by trading away Marvin, Josh Smith, or sending Memphis both lottery picks. A combo of the #3, Childress (foot injuries bother me), and one of Shelden/Lue/AJ is all I would give them. If they get a better offer somewhere else, then so be it. Worst case scenario for me is taking Brandan Wright.
  19. That is just too much to give up for Pau Gasol. It's like the #3 pick has little value at all.
  20. Quote: How come no one here reported this to us... From the Bucks' RealGM board: Ric Bucher reported on the finals pre-game show on ESPN radio hat the Bucks would be willing to move the number 6th and Villanueva to Atlanta for the number three, which they would use to select Al Horford. Stated that Horford is the consensus third best player in the draft and there will be a lot of maneuvering by different teams to try and snag him. Also said Atlanta is talking to the Wizards about moving Brendan Haywood for Shelden Williams. Yuck.
  21. Initially I was high on Yi, but it was contingent on him working out against some of the other top prospects. That has all changed now. If he is unwilling to workout against the other prospects, then I don't want him. Especially with the politics involved with signing him.
  22. Quote: Even if Vick plays with all of this over his head he will have a hard time focusing on the field. The dude has a lot ahead of him and it will be a distraction and you gotta know that Blank is not happy. That will not help. Vick has made his bed and now he has to lie in it. Yeah, it could be a major distraction if the prosecutor continues to let this drag out while he searches for credible witnesses. I wouldn't trade a pick for Culpepper. The Falcons have too many holes on their roster to trade away draft picks. Become a playoff contender, and then they can trade away picks. I don't care if it's a fifth rounder, it's simply too valuable for a team in permanent rebuilding mode.
  23. The only bad pick is Brandan Wright. At 200 lbs, this guy is going to struggle trying to get his low post game to work in the NBA, at least until he adds some weight and strength. The Hawks are bad enough where they can use all of the talent they can get. Yeah, they had injuries last season, but that only proves there is no depth on the team.
  24. Quote: Falcons fans don't realize it yet, but they are going to be amazed at how much better their receivers are when they have a QB that can actually throw the ball accurately to them. Well, I am a Falcon Season Ticket holder, so will I also be amazed when our qb looks so much better with receivers that can catch the ball? Will I be even more amazed when the receivers can run a route without getting jammed, maybe even get a little seperation, which will help a below average offensive line? There must be a reason why that great passing qb Matt Schaub, in his greatest performance ever, only completed about 50% of his passes, right? Pardon me, I forgot, it's only about Michael Vick. lol
  25. Well there are a couple of players I want, only one I don't want: Want: Yi/Horford/Conley/ Don't Want: Brandan Wright
