I'm a little confused too. This has got to be one of the most ridiculous arguments in the history of the internet. (And that's saying a lot!)

Guys like you say that Kobe and Tmac are even or Kobe and Iverson are even or Kobe and Pierce are even... and the truth is that Kobe hasn't proven that he is even in these guys' league. Kobe is the Scottie Pippen of the 2000s. He looks good playing next to the most dominant player on EARTH but what will he be when he is not playing next to the most dominant player on Earth. Or what will he look like when he is not in Phil's system?

Nobody knows. However, even with his Pumped up numbers (never facing a double team helps pump up his numbers) he still doesn't matchup to a guy like TMAC. TMac is superior on both sides of the ball. Tmac is the focus of most opponents defenses.

It's tiresome hearing how Scottie Pippen Jr. is the best Sg in the game when it's so much of a mystery that no one really knows.

Penny Jr = Scottie Pippen Jr. = Kobe

so u compare Bryant to SCOTTIE PIPPEN JR... if he is SP JR (a comparison i dont see), is that a bad thing? Pippen is one of the 50 best in the history of this game...

Pippen = defensively a lot better than KOBE (at his prime)

Kobe (not even in his prime) = offensively a lot better than Pippen!

Even if Kobe does end up being "Scottie Jr.," that's not exactly a bad career. It's easy to chalk up Pip's praise to his playing alongside Jordan, but when it was "his team" during MJ's first retirement, the Bulls were still a very tough team...and should have made it to the finals if it weren't for the phantom call...and who knows, they very well could have beated that first Houston team (not so sure about the second).

Too many people see the Pip now and don't realize how good he was - a better 3 pt. shooter than MJ, arguable the best all-round swingman ever...and he had mad hops too.

PS - no, I'm not saying that he was better than MJ, not in the least. But many undervalue how good Pip was and his contributions to that team.

Your characterization of Kobe as Pippen Jr is ludicrious and desperate but I think that would be just another argument for Kobe being good for this team, not "all wrong" for it?

Maybe you missed the 6 Bulls titles with Pippen as a number two guy behind MJ most teams thought of as better than their number 1.
