Marvin vs Al

David Lee gets the ball underneath and Marvin is there. Lee goes for the dunk and Marvin goes for the block. Lee dunked on Marvin.

If that had been Al it would have been an uncontested dunk. Al would not have even raised his hands over his head.

Jerome James gets the ball underneath and gets ready to dunk. Marvin hacks him and puts him on the line. Marvin doesn't give up uncontested layups.

No that was somebody else. And it was nuts.

BTW marvin outrebounded Al 8 to 6 even though he played 10 fewer minutes. While marvins offense is definitely underdeveloped he is definitely showing good signs in other areas.

That 8 seconds call made me sick though.

Al gets an open jumper and hits it. Marvin gets an open jumper and bricks it.

Marvin is not yet ready for the big minutes like Al. He will be, but not yet.

The only thing Al can do is score, and he isn't consistent with it.

More importantly there is nothing else in the game he does well. Nothing.

I am not the biggest Al supporter by any means, but he did take some HUGE charges last night. There probably aren't that many other guys who would have stood there and taken some of those shots.

He did take a couple late, but the fact is that before he got hurt Lue led the team in taking charges. Al wasn't even top 3.

I am not saying that Al takes a lot of charges overall, just that he did take some charges from BIG dudes last night when we needed him to. Every once in a while he can pleasantly suprise with good defensive plays.

I know, and that is what pisses me off. it isn't that Al isn't capable of playing at least decent defense. He just chooses not to.

is he ready to have the role and put up the points that Al does now? No, not this year at least. But I do think he should get about 30mpg next year, in which he will come close to matching Al's numbers with better rebounding and defense.

I hope you are right. Marvin needs a little more weight training and some drills to help him finish. He will be fine in time...we have to be patient.

You guys want to make a big deal about Al taking charges. Actually it is a big deal for him because ordinarily he doesn't do it. Even though he plays a ton of minutes he isn't even in the top 3 on the team in taking charges.
