How much would u throw at Sam Cassell?

Is he worth 8-9 million a season for 3 years. I read that he wants a contract for more that 3 years and he wants more that 6.1 million dollars. His veteran leadership would be priceless for our young team.

I thought I read something on the board here a few weeks ago where Cassell said he'd prefer to go to a contender if possible.

From his comments, it didn't sound like he had much interest in playing for a team still in rebuilding mode.

If we aren't going to draft a PG (or a guard so that JJ can play point)...or trade for AI... then it's a viable option. He won't be able to play 35 minutes a game anyway. So Lue would still get some time.

Cassell would easily be worth 3 years and 21 million. I say offer him 3 years 22 million dollars and I guarantee the Hawks couldn't make a better move this summer. He should be our number one priority with the cap room we have.

Doesn't matter. The ATL spirit is running out of money on the Belkin craP. They will probably let AL go and save money with young low cost guys. I don't see a big free agent move until some money starts going positive for this frail group.
