DrReality
Hawks, Thrashers announce TV plans By TIM TUCKER The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 09/20/06 Sixty-one Thrashers games and 75 Hawks games will be televised this season on the two Atlanta-based, Fox-owned regional sports cable networks. The Thrashers games will be on the to-be-renamed Turner South, which Fox Cable Networks bought earlier this year from Turner Broadcasting, while the Hawks games will be split between Turner South and FSN South. RELATED LINKS: • More Hawks coverage • More Thrashers coverage Fox acquired the local TV rights to the Hawks and Thrashers, as well as the rights to most Braves games, in its $375 million purchase of Turner South. Turner Broadcasting, which previously controlled the Hawks and Thrashers television rights, opted in recent seasons to farm out many of the games to "i" TV, formerly PAX-TV. Fox will not do that, said Jeff Genthner, vice president and general manager of FSN South and Turner South. "One of the big advantages is that all of the local televised Hawks and Thrashers games are under one roof and will be on one of two networks," he said. Play-by-play voice JP Dellacamera and analyst Darren Eliot will call the Thrashers games on Turner South. Bob Rathbun will handle the play-by-play of Hawks games on Turner South and FSN South. DrReality
Thank god they kept Bob Raaaaaaaaaathbun. This thing is good news for some because a bunch of the Hawks games were not on my cable.
frosgrim
Wow, we miss 21 Thrashers games. That sux. Only seven Hawks games won't be shown, that's a little better. Its also nice that they will be on the Fox networks. Even on cable, i, was a little off on its color and general quality.

Premium Member Sothron Posted September 21, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted September 21, 2006 Good God where did all the rest of our Thrashers games go? I'm glad to get more Hawks games since I never got the local UPN down here in Columbus though.

vdunkndunk
This is good news. I used to hate trying to figure out which of the 3 channels the game was going to be on each night. Now it will be that much easier.
