gutz
With less than a week to go before the draft lottery reveals the order of the draft, we need to start saying prayers nightly for this poor Hawks team to catch a break for once. I don't know when the last time the Hawks actually had a #1 pick in the draft if ever. This franchise would be an instant contender in the horrible Eastern conference if we were to get Oden with the #1 pick. Plus we could land a nice PG with the 11th pick as well. I understand it's a longshot to land that #1 pick but aren't the Hawks finally due for some luck? We shall see come next Tuesday. Please basketball gods look down on this pitiful Hawks team and give us Oden!

Blunt91
Praying will not help this Hawks team. I have tried in the past and it has brought the Hawks no luck. Since I don't have good luck when I root for my team I decided to try a different approach. There is a guy at my workplace that doesn't like any Atlanta teams. I told this guy that I would willingly give him $25 If the Hawks MADE it in the top 3 picks. What do I get in this deal? If the Hawks don't make the top 3 at least I get to keep my money. I would gladly give up some spending change if it was all in the cause of bringing my team some success. Also he will probably be rooting for a team that he doesn't like because he wants to get paid. Vafan
Good plan. We need to change the forutne of this team.
gutz
We have to do something! I hate being a pessimist but being positive has NEVER worked in the past for this team.
Johnnybravo4
I think I take the Lascar approach to the lottery. We will probably lose our pick but get Indianas. We will end up taking Acie Law with the 11 or 12th pick and offer Darko 7million per and see if he bites. Or we could make a trade and send say Lue, Lorenzen, and Childress to LA for Kwame Brown. Which would in essence be a salary cap purge for LA with Chills thrown in as a carrot. We go into next season with Speedy/Law/AJ JJ/Salim Marvin/MLE SF Smoove/Shelden Kwame/Zaza/Solo Then we pray that Speedy is healthy, Law is a stud, And both Marvin and Smoove live up to their potential. kelston827
Please tell me you're kidding about Kwame. He's garbage and always will be. Not that Childress is an all-star, but he could be very valuable for a playoff team (and I don't think we'd be able to get good value for him). But regardless, Kwame Brown is a POS. Johnnybravo4
He is an athletic presence. And he is still only 25. In essence I am saying that the combo of Kwame/Zaza at the 5 would be more beneficial than the combo of Marvin/Chills at the 3. Kwame could at least give us what we thought Lorenzen would give us. Johnnybravo4
If he equal Zaza's production offensively and be an intimidating force inside then it would be well worth the cost.
AtLaS
lol, I had a dream last night that I was watching the lottery on TV, and we got the 6th pick and gave it to PHX, damn I was glad to wake up. It's pretty sad when you're dreaming about the Hawks basketball future..

Premium Member Diesel Posted May 16, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted May 16, 2007 It's time to start sending David Stern Hawk gifts... I believe in prayer, but when the damn thing is fixed worse than American Idol, then I think you have to move to something different.

khaos7
With all the draft goofs Billy Knight has made, landing the first or second pick would right a lot of wrongs. With the brainless GM we have on payroll, we can't trust him to get this team a big in FA or through the draft. We REALLY need one of those picks! Seano
I've already resigned myself to not getting a top 3 pick. As others have noted- with our luck, why should this year be any different? I find with this team it's just much easier emotionally to expect nothing, and thereby if you get nothing- well, then you can't be too terribly disappointed. And if we do get a top 3? Why then I'll be fricken giddy.
DJlaysitup
By far the best odds are that we get the #5 pick....just mathematical reality. and of course...we don't get the #5 pick...PHX does.
