Hawks have a favorable schedule from here out

I was analyzing the rest of the schedule for the Hawks and 76ers. After doing so I feel much better about winning the 8th seed as the worst case scenerio for these Hawks barring major injury.

Here is why:

The Hawks have 22 games (counting makeup with Heat) before back to back games vs. The 76ers. The 76ers have 18 games before back to back matchups vs. the Hawks.

Of the 22 games for the Hawks (befor back to back show down with 76ers):

1. 11 home and 11 away.

2. 15 of the 22 games are vs. teams who's records are below .500

3. Only 7 out of the next 22 games are vs. winning teams !

4. ( We still play the Knicks 4 more times ! )

Of the 18 games for the 76ers (befor back to back show down with Hawks):

1. 8 games home and 10 games away

2. only 7 of the 18 games are vs. teams with losing records

3. 11 of the next 18 games are vs. winning ball clubs

At least there are some things to be hopeful about.

The table is set for the Bibby and the Hawks to get on a roll heading into the playoffs.

Can we go 15 / 7 over the next 22 games ?

Then we close with:

76ers

76ers

Pacers

Knicks

Celtics

Magic

Heat

We could close with sweeping all 7 of our last games. Orlando will probably have the 3 seed and the South Division all wrapped up. Howard may only play a half. Like wise for the aging Celtics. I'm sure Garnett and Allen won't play big minutes that late in the season with the East all wrapped up. The worsrt the Hawks should close out the season is 4 /3 over this 7 game stretch.

This team can get back to .500 and be the 6th seed in the East 1

At least I believe !

Mods, can we get this thread deleted and coachx banned? He obviously does not understand the spirit of Hawksquawk. grin.gif

That's a great goal. To win at that clip would show that this team has a future. I think they can do it or come close. I'm concerned about the lack of experience on the bench. This to me is Woody's big failing. Here we are and we need some production from Salim, Solo, Mario and they all are very green. The combined nba minutes for these three guys I'm sure is astoundingly low.

A win tonight would be a huge confidence builder to have a 2-3 trip out west. We just need to win a lot over the next 10. I don't want to bank on winning out the last 10 games.

I love your optimism, but we will never get back to .500. That would mean we would

have to win ALL the games against teams with a worse record than us PLUS beat

3 teams that have better records than us. I guess it's possible, but you know we will not

beat every team we SHOULD beat. SO for every game we lose to those worse teams, we will have to beat a better team to even it out.

Luckily, most of the better teams we play at home and most of the worse teams we play on the road, so yes, the schedule is much easier the rest of the way than it's been lately. I would LOVE for us to get back to .500. A .500 record and a plyoff berth would be a lot to celebrate for this team.

When was the last time this franchise won 5 games in a row?

Ain't gonna happen.

Well, the last 5 in a row would have happend against the Pacers on Deceber 26th, 2007. Unfortunatly, the 3rd game in that streak is the outstanding Miami game.

So, if we beat Miami, does that count for 5 in a row? How the heck does that work?

If that streak doesn't count, then it has been 8 years. The Hawks are about due don't you think?

It's not half as funny as you people that actually believe this team is going to do something.

I believe, as well I should. With the the way the schedule unfolds the Hawks could make some noise right when the 76ers are hitting their speed bumps. The Nets lost Kidd and the Wiz are still without Arenas and Butler is banged up. There is still alot to "believe in."

A #8 seed seems the worst case scenerio and the #6 seed is still in reach.

By "do something" I mean do something other than suck.

The only thing i see people hoping for is for the Hawks to squeeze into the playoffs so they can get spanked in the first round.

Even if they do make the playoffs they will most likely have a losing record in a weak conference and therefore would still quaify for "suck" status.

I'm still struggling to find the humor.
