DJ_Money
Just a few names off ESPN's Player Tracker list to look at. (I know there's more guys out there, but I'm supposed to be working and don't have time to search the whole internet.) http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/...raftyear%3d2008 Point Guards: -Jamar Butler, Ohio State. -Drew Neitzel, Michigan State. (If Smitty has anyone's ear in the front office, I'm sure he's making calls this morning.) Shooting Guards: -Jamont Gordon, Mississippi State. (A guy that I've always liked. Not a great shooter, but he scores, rebounds, and get assists. Would love to have him for the Summer League, even if his chances of making the team are slim. KB, I know you've got more on him...) -Marcelus Kemp, Nevada. (Good scorer and defender.) -Chris Lofton, Tennessee. (Great college player until health issues took his Senior year away.) -DeMarcus Nelson, Duke. (Defender.) -Richard Roby, Colorado. Small Forward: -Josh Duncan, Xavier. -Keith Brumbaugh, JUCO. (Was a top HS player, but has off-court issues.) -Davon Jefferson, USC. (Should have stayed in school.) Power Forward: Nothing to write home about. Center: -C.J. Giles, Oregon State. (Never lived up to college hype, got kicked out of Kansas.) -David Padgett, Louisville. (No defense, but skilled for a 7-footer. Good passer. Bad injury history, I believe.) Add others, if you wish. MoonKnight
We should invite Anthony Morrow from GT and S. Gaines from UGA to participate in the summer league. Morrow has a very good jumper but could never adapt to being a primary scoring threat. I have a hunch Morrow could develop into a decent 12th man in the NBA as a three point specialist (I think he lead the ACC in 3pt percentage a few seasons ago) Morrow might be better as a pro player because he never had a major scoring threat to play off of while at Tech. Gaines is an short combo guard (under 6 ft) who is built like a linebacker. I think he led UGA in scoring, rebounding, and assists. I thought he was fantastic in tournament play. While an erratic shooter, he knows how to score. He is without an NBA position or body, but would be worth an invite. Neither guy will likely stick, but many would have said the same thing about Mario West before last season.
coachx
Good call on Neitzel ! A deadly 3 point shooter with the ability to play PG. I'd take him over Lofton b/c Lofton can't play PG AT ALL. Nelson would be a nice piece. Alot like West/ I'd take with one. As far as a 3rd PG goes. S. Gaines plays alot like West but has better ball hadling and PG skills. Dude gives wou 110 % (as does any player under 6') and is built like you said (a LB). His ability to defend the perimeter and play with flat out tenacity will make him the 12th man on a roster some where.
jezmund
I'm a GT fan and although I appreciate Morrow and his shooting/attitude, he is not an NBA caliber player. He's not too athletic for a guard. His ballhandling is average at best.

TheDude
Lofton sounds like one of the few that may be NBA worthy.i rememberr him being a force.....i say no to local flavor....they are always hyped more than they are worth.
MoonKnight
Mario West was certainly not "hyped". I do not believe he even started at Tech. These are just invites nothing more, and we will have many spots to fill on the summer league team with only Law, Solo, West, and maybe Al and/or Richardson on the roster playing. jezmund
I hope we can actually fill the roster with rookies rather than players that have been in the Summer Leagues 2-3 years.
Zone034life
PG - Sundiata Gaines SG - Richard Roby SF - Davon Jefferson PF - Othello Hunter C - C.J Giles These are players the Hawks should look to sign. Especially Roby who could push West and Richardson for a roster spot.

NJHAWK
I really like Duncun for a bench post player with outside touch. I just think he will be the real deal. A guy who can come in and get us double figures off the bench from the start.
bronnt
I'm gonna take another opportunity to talk up Jamont Gordon. I'm a Miss St. fan but I don't think I'm out of line in thinking he's got some tools. He definately has an NBA body. Personally, I see him as more of a PG than a SG, despite his flaws, because he's much better with the ball in his hands. And it's not like we really have any depth at PG. Bibby probably won't be retained past this year, so grabbing another guy who could give us another developmental guy behind Acie wouldn't hurt. Physically, I thought he was a lottery prospect. There's some holes in his game, like his jumpshooting, focus, decision making, etc, but he does work hard at different aspects of his game. He plays defense hard and using his strength well, and he has good speed and lateral quickness. I think he'll catch on with an NBA roster somewhere, and if he works hard, he'll be a solid reserve level guard for some team. He's got the body of an NFL player, and with speed and desire to get to the hole. If he showed a higher propensity to drive and kick out, and less of a tendency to take jumpshots (which are not his forte) he'd have been easily a first round pick. Jammin29
We should try go after Davon Jefferson while we can, defently a good prospect. im surprised he didnt get drafted.
DJlaysitup
Normally I would be all over the post-draft free agents - but without a single pick in the draft I lost interest and haven't looked at the mid-major talent like I should have. Still...we would be dumber than dirt (or cheaper than nickels) if we don't grab a couple guys like Gordon or Jefferson or Neitzeil and at least send them to the summerleague. ncthompson11
would love to see neitzel get a chance since he was one of my favorite players in college basketball last year but kind of had a down year his senior year(18 ppg junior to 14) but had a top recruiting class to play with. Also demarcus nelson would probably been drafted had it not been some poor games late in the season and he did lead duke in scoring at 15 ppg.
