Why does Nique get such a bad rap?

It seems like so many people hate this guy because he is allegedly an awful commentator. I disagree with this notion. I think he knows the game very well and knows what he’s talking about and that he just repeats phrases that piss people off. The only glaring weakness in his commentary is he fumbles players’ names.

On top of that, he’s probably the only truly exciting basketball player to star for the Hawks in the last 25 years. This is true because Josh Smith is an athlete, not a basketball player.

So whoever hates on Nique needs to stop because he is truly a legend and is invaluable to this city.

I think he's fine as a commentator. Steve Smith was better, but Nique is okay.

anyway, i liked Smitty better as well...he was funnier and seemed to have more insight on the game sometimes

Bob does play-by-play. Nique and Smitty would sound like the 'boom goes the dynamite' guy if they ever tried play-by-play. Nique is a terrible analyst, but there are so few good ones.

Nique will always be my favorite Hawk but as an announcer He is a little too much of a homer and I get tired of hearing Heat Check 80 times a game.

He's not a great commentator but either was Smitty his first year and he transformed into a pretty good announcer. I think same will got for Nique.
