Our Fine Feathered Friends currently rank 2nd in the League in Free Throw percentage. Yes, even with the Smoove One tossing up prayers nightly (58.5 %), the Hawks have been plugging away from the charity stripe, at 81.3 %... it would be 86.2 %JSA (Josh Smith Adjusted). Last season the Hawks ended the regular season ranked near the basement of the league, at 28th (73.7 %).

The current rundown (top teams with 80+ FT%):

Blazers: 21.5-25.9 (83.0 %)

HAWX: 20.8-25.6 (81.3 %)

Mavs: 20.6-25.4 (80.8 %)

Nuggs: 26.7(!)-33.2(!) (80.4 %)

Knix: 15.9-19.8(last) (80.3 %)

While Josh is holding serve from last season's rate (58.8 %), greater reliability from Crawford (85.4 %) represents an upgrade from last season's Super-sub Flip Murray (76.0 %). Also notable improvements from Marvin, Bibby (both at/above 90 % so far) and the Human Booby Prize Joe Johnson (89.5 %) is making a difference. Here's hoping it keeps up!

But it is nice to have a reliable team at the line so far. If we shot at a similar clip last year we would have won 50+.

Every player that went to the line missed at least one last night, dropping the Hawks to 5th overall and 79.2%. But as Joy Behar might say, "SO WHAT?" It's still better than 28th.
