Hawks' Record Unlikely to Fall Without Epic Knicks Blowout

Mike Woodson is after his own record. The 2010 Hawks set the record for the worst series defeat in NBA history when they matched up 2 against 3 in the series against Orlando. With the Knicks' injury situation there are more excuses this time, but it seems unlikely that Woodson will break his own record.

The Knicks currently are being swept with a -60 point margin. That means that numbers to watch for are 41 and 42. If the Knicks lose Game Four by 41, Woodson's 2012 Knicks will tie the 2010 Hawks for a -101 point margin in a four game sweep. If the Knicks lose by 42, the Hawks' record will fall and the Knicks will own the new mark for playoff futility.

The Hawks lost the opener in the Orlando series by 43, so if Woodson's history repeats it could happen!

Woody is once again unable to make in game adjustments. THis was a big problem with his tenure as a Hawks coach. He had a set plan and stuck to it no matter what. He became predictable and teams exploited it. I still don't think he is a good head coach...he is better as an asst.

Let's be fair here. The 2010 sweep had a lot to do with Joe injuring his elbow in the Buck series. The Knicks troubles has a great deal to do with Woody losing his best perimeter defender and PG.

The Magic blew us out 7 times that year. 8 if you include the preseason massacre.

Mike Woodson against higher seeded playoff teams: 3-15. All of those three wins came when we were the #8 seed too, go figure lol.I remember him referring that series to the press after the Knicks got blown out in game one. He was talking about getting back to work, finding a way to win on the road and winning at home. I was really hoping a reporter would bring up the Orlando series. "Mike, your last time in the playoffs your team set the record of the worst series defeat ever. Can we expect this trend of blowouts to continue with the Knicks? "Woodson gets it done during the regular season but his inability to change what isn't working in the playoffs is his biggest weakness.

This is true. That was the worst set of injuries any team had to deal with in NBA which is why that series was the worst in NBA history. Joe hurting his elbow just seems like the worst challenge ever faced by an NBA team.Good thing the series immediately before, the Bucks weren't without their franchise player who led the team in blocks and rebounds (Andrew Bogut) and their leading scorer for the previous 6 consecutive seasons (Michael Redd) because it would be pretty embarassing if such an undermanned low talent team would have taken the Hawks to game 7 and then Woody used JJ's hurt elbow as an excuse for the worst series in NBA history.
