HOPE DANNY DOESN'T KILL OUR IDENTITY!

Over the last 7 or 8 years we have been a very athletic and exciting team..because of this style of play our arena has been dubbed the Highlight Factory..I want us to continue to field this type of product therefore if we trade a high riser I want one in return..since Smooth wants to be a bitch and not play for his HOMETOWN at true market value we should dump him..The deal Im hoping for is Jeff Green, the young center prospect in Melo and the Celtics s 1st..I dont want old ass Paul Pierce or overpaid undersized Brandon Bass...I want a player who is goin to make the fans jump out there seat wit dunks..Green is underated and has been caught in log jams at the 3 with KD amd PP..He could easily provide us wit 17 and 8 at a descent cap number of 9 mil a year.. Josh would prolly take 12 mil a seasom from Dallas..he is a good player but thats all he is worth..so dump him and dump him for another exciting athlete.. Green fits the bill and it would be a good deal for both teams..because we have 2 fours in Josh and Al and they have 2 threes in PP and Green..

Jeff Green as a highlight replacement for Josh Smith? He's nowhere near the dunker and he's not a shot blocker so I certainly don't see it as far as highlights go and he's a pitiful rebounder for his size as well. And yeah we're called the Highlight Factory but we're one of the slowest teams in the league and have been for years. One of the worst nicknames for our style of play honestly. Green, Melo (as much as a Syracuse homer like me likes him) and a mid 1st round pick is not enough value for Josh.

Only problem is that our umtempo, athletic scheme is centered around Smith. Any trade w/ Smith and we are losing that identity, even if the trade brings back another athletic player, i.e. DeAndre Jordan. 2 years ago, I saw the potential that Jordan is showing now and wanted him bad because I could imagine a Jordan/Smith combo being succesful, but now that'll take Smoove to get him, I really don't see how DeAndre would work w/o Smith here. If Smith is traded, we'll be taking on the Spurs scheme. Ferry will make Horf his Duncan and Teague his Parker. All he needs is his Ginoboli, a center, a SG, and a deep bench.

I would love to have Bledsoe and D. Jordan for Smith.....

Bledsoe is interesting as backup/possible replacement for Teague.

I think that everyone here would love to have that for Josh. 2 young and promising players with reasonable contracts is just about perfect.

Doubt we can get both. Looking at all these other horrible trades, if we have to get rid of Smoove now; I would be Ok with Deandre and a 1st.

I doubt that we could get both either. Diesel had a modified version of my trade that gave us Jordan and Lee and I think a 1st but can't remember but either way Lee and Jordan is a good get for a guy on his way out. On a PER36 minute basis Jordan is every bit as productive and even more efficient than Josh and the only real difference is in assists, but Deandre turns it over less so that helps to even things out. Plus he's 2" taller and 25 lbs heavier and a natural C.

our athleticism has been very overrated and our slow tempo iso heavy offense wasnt very fun to watch at all.

This year teams has been one of the most fun teams in years and Danny was the 1 who created this new ball movement up tempo identity.

To be fair, this is LD's offense and he's the one who created it, LD just facilitated it by getting rid of Joe / Marvin and replacing them with non-ISO players. The rest of your post I agree with.

Jeff Green has been getting highlight reel dunks all season with the Celtics..Jeff Green was awesome his last season with OKC, Presti just realized that they weren't going to win a championship wit green as a four due to already having a dynamic 3 in KD..Green just had a set back with the heart issue he is a excellent player who has a reasonable contract..There is no doubt he would be a excellent 3 and would help against the heat..he did a excellent job guarding Lebron in a couple games this season..I dont see a better 3 we can get in free agency or in the draft..because we really have another starting caliber 4 in 9/5 and could leave Al at center and go withTeagueHarrisGreenI. JohnsonHorford and not miss a beat..Im not scared of trading Smith East because I feel like we have players in Horford and Ivan who can match up..The Boston deal makes fhe most since to me with the Milwaukee deal being a close second because I feel like Teague/Ellis would work better than Curry/Ellis and Jennings/Ellis due to Teague's defense..Jennings/Ellis hasn't been have bad and we ourselves have gotten away with Teague/Harris..Im no longer afraid of two small guards and I think Ellis would be an upgrade over Devin Harris.. the only thing s with the Milwaukee deal is that they are offering expiring contracts and guys like Dalembert and Ellis are guys we could pursue in free agency anyway so it makes little since..I want to keep Korver as a specialist but s would be upset if we go into next season with him as the starting 3.. Jeff Green/ Melo would be good for our future and we still could pursue an additional free agent instead of tying all our money into Josh..Phoenix has nothings I want and would rather sign Dalembert this summer for 3 mil this summer then trade for Gortat.. Phoenix would have to offer me their lottery pick unprotected to even consider doing business with them..they simply dont have the assets..I hope we dont be dump like Orlando and take a lesser deal dues to us being afraid of Josh in our conference..Im not afraid of that f***in trader Josh Smith who refuses to play for the home team at market value..Jeff Green has been getting highlight reel dunks all season with the Celtics..Jeff Green was awesome his last season with OKC, Presti just realized that they weren't going to win a championship wit green as a four due to already having a dynamic 3 in KD..Green just had a set back with the heart issue he is a excellent player who has a reasonable contract..There is no doubt he would be a excellent 3 and would help against the heat..he did a excellent job guarding Lebron in a couple games this season..I dont see a better 3 we can get in free agency or in the draft..because we really have another starting caliber 4 in 9/5 and could leave Al at center and go withTeagueHarrisGreenI. Who cares about highlight reel dunks when the guy averages 3.5 rebounds and game and shoots poorly for a PF. I'd love to see those highlight reel dunks though as I just watched his celtics highlights on YouTube and don't see anything more impressive than Marvin dunking.

You are talkin about the number of board s the guy is averaging as a reserve the number of boards he averaged at okc would be a better depiction of what we would get..

He averages a whopping 4.8 rebounds PER36. His career best was 6.5 PER36 and his career average is 5.8 PER36. By comparison, Marvin averaged 7 rebounds PER36 his final season here in Atlanta and he was always an underachieving rebounder.

I love the identity Ferry (and Drew) are building right now: a team that gets out in runs, and swings the ball around with a bunch of PnR in the half-court and shoots a bunch of threes. We're basically Spurs-lite.

Josh fits in some ways (athleticism, passing, defense), but his shooting doesn't fit at all. I don't think losing Josh will change our style of play at all. Though we may shed the moniker of a dumb, athletic team (I don't know how many times I've heard that). There are worse things than that.

LOL @ kill our identity.

WHAT identity?

That whole ruse of being an athletic team only extended to Josh Smith and somewhat to Al Horford. JJ isn't athletic. Marvin was a marginal athlete, but clumsy as hell. Zaza isn't athletic. Childress was athletic, but a perennial role player.

Teague is actually the most athletic guy on the team.

And honestly . . who cares about the nickname of the arena. It's time for a WHOLESALE IDENTITY CHANGE for the Hawks.

The Highlight Factory has been the scene of some of the most horrific playoff losses in the past 5 years.

2008: no losses

2009: lost by 15 ( Heat ) . . . lost by 15 and 10 ( Cavs )

2010: lost by 4 ( Milwaukee . . the JJ 4th qtr meltdown game ) . . lost by 30 and 14 ( Magic )

2011: lost by 17 and 20 ( Bulls )

2012: lost by 7 ( Celtics . . . in a game in which they didn't have Rondo, and we could've gone up 2 - 0 in the series )

15 - 9 home playoff record. A playoff series record of 3 - 5

Actually, if you take out the Boston series in 2008, we're only 12 - 9 in the past 4 years at home in the playoffs, with 3 of those series ending on our home floor in double digit losses.

LOL . . it may be time for the Highlight Factory to DIE . . and construct some new identity that actually wins meaningful games.

And don't be mad at Josh Smith for not giving the Hawks a "hometown discount".

Keep in mind that when he was a restricted free agent, the management basically told him to "find his own deal". After about 2 months, Memphis finally came up with an offer sheet. The Hawks saw it as "reasonable", and matched the offer.

Don't think Josh and his agent has forgotten this. And that's why he tossed out there that he thinks that he's worth the MAX.

The NBA is a business. Danny Ferry knows what it is like, when you don't fully treat it like a business. He still has that bitter taste of Carlos Boozer and their "understanding", in his mouth. As soon as Boozer was shown the money by Utah, he said to heck with that "understanding" and bolted right out of Cleveland.

Also . . . while we are playing at a faster pace, it's not like we're scoring a ton of points.

The 2008, 2009, and 2010 version of the Hawks all played at a slower pace, but scored more points . . . and played better defense.

But if you guys like jacking up a ton of 3s and praying that we're hot, I guess that's OK.

Live by the 3 . . . die by the 3.
