Thinking about canceling Cable...

Mayor Bloomberg has gotten away with making into law things that I didn't even think a mayor had the power to do. Besides that we devised a system long before he ever even had the chance to slip on his platform shoes and speak out against Four Loko... while also saving money on beer.....

He makes the Liberal stereotypes true. Think they miss Guiliani yet ?

He's talking about at a bar in NYC. Even here in Texas unless you're talking about a beer on special or at happy hour, you're going to spend 7-8 bucks on a pint + tip.

Your not going to watch a Hawks game at a bar in NYC.

If you can't afford cable or a dish then you have no business in a sports bar over paying for beer.

Just being the voice of reason.

Doesn't have to be about ability to afford it and it doesn't have to be all one way or another. Nothing says you can't go out to a sports bar from time to time to watch the Hawks play even in NYC while watching league pass at home the majority of the time.

I have not been to a sports bar to watch a game since I was single in my early to my mid 20's.............and even then you can't really focus on the game.

To each their own.

Hey.............life is good as an old fart. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Went to a show at the new Ga Theater recently an was miserable. They ripped out all the seats in the balcony to make one of those 3 tier balconies, with standing room only. Holds more people to make more money...............but us old farts are miserable............we need a place to sit our old azzes down.

$15 for a beer anywhere is a joke, unless you mean one of those 2 liter Tuskers from Nairobi, and they won't even charge you that much Posted Image Hell, for $15 you can get 2 6-packs of an import here, so that $15 must be some good sh!t.

.......A bottle/draught of Bud lite will run you $5-6.......before tip. Micro's, import imports (no, Corona and Heineken, you're yesterdays news), and higher-end domestics run you $7-13 at a bar here. Of course, we aren't even talking about clubs which for some reason add whatever the hell they want to their drink prices. Yea, you can find spots that will have your choice beverage cheaper or on special but in general it's cheaper to just pay for cable in the case of basketball but football is a different story.

Bloomberg ran as a Rupublican twice before switching to Independent tyrant when he gifted himself a 3rd term. Tells you the type of clout that he has built up when he can just give himself a 3rd term and making sure a Superbowl champion is fully prosecuted for shooting himself in addition to a slew of other wild laws. Guilliani couldn't even parlay being one of the iconic faces during 9/11 of all things into a 3rd term (but he tried) or any further political aspirations (oh did he try). So it goes to show, be a d*ck later in your career and you'll get away with more.

Ah we'll that explains it. I thought it was some fruity drink or something.

They taste like pizz to me. They have been around since the 90's. I think their marketing does a good job for their target market of those who drink micro-brews. Sweetwater 420 (catchy name) is their most popular beer but its a pale ale.......which is not my taste. They also put a trout fish on all their beer. Fishing is big here in Ga.

I like the Terrapin Station Golden Ale as my favorite local brewed beer to Noth Ga.......they are out of Athens. Its the one with surfing terrapin turtle on the bottle......they have several different types like Sweetwater. http://terrapinbeer.com/brew/

Right now I like high alcohal beers that are 8 - 10%......(Ommegang / Three Philosophers amnd Rare Vos are the 2 I drink the most).....you don't have to drink as much. Great for tailgating b/c you don't have to stand in line at the porta-john as much and they don't have to be ice cold to taste good. They are best around 50 degrees.

Thanks for the info coach! I'm with you on not being into pale ales. I'm mostly about Shiner Bock (Texas beer that's starting to get popular around the country and even seen in movies lately) and Killian's Irish Red with the occasional Guinness mixed in. Good philosophy on drinking higher alcohol content beers to avoid having to re-vist the can.

I like the Sweetwater Brown and you can't beat the actual marketing catch phrase from their website:

I also like the Irish reds, a variety of stouts and porters, and flavorful lagers. I tend not to like fruit beers, high hoppy IPAs (the Hopsecutioner one from Terrapin isn't bad) or any form of bland beers.

Can't beat Killian's Irish Red for the price. 6 packs run about $4.99 around here......cheaper then Bud Light but much higher quality beer. I just love their color in a clear glass.

Amber Ales and Golden Ales are probably my favorite beer types. Love Fat Tire too. They make a great amber ale. Glad they finally started selling them in Ga over the last 4 or 5 years. Used to have friends brink back trunk fulls from Colorado back in college.

Brown ales are good too. Hard to beat a Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale (not Sam Adam though I do like them too). By far the best brown ale I've ever had. I highly recommend this beer. Been around since the mid 1700's. http://www.samuelsmithsbrewery.co.uk/

New Castle and Bass are good brown ales but Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale is just on a different level.

WTH is a sweetwater?

Some of the best beer I have ever had... 420 is the most common, SW Blue is my fave. I toured the brewery and "sampled" the beers. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I put down a good 6-7 (16 oz) in the hour I was there. Just that tasty! If you're ever in Atlanta, I definitely recommend checking it out and paying the $10 for the pint samples. Always a good time.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tallboy Colt 45 is only $1.29 at most gas stations. Haven't found a bar yet in the Atl Metro area that stocks it though. Fools!
