The Official 2013 Draft Prospects Thread

Recommended Posts

Post any video of any player you think the Hawks should go after in this thread. I'll start it off with a player that some sites are projecting us to pick

MASON PLUMLEE

I'm sure Ferry's Duke ties has something to do with people possibly but he does have some offensive skills around the basket. Like with all of these players in the middle 1st round, none will probably be All-Stars. So it's up to Ferry to pick ( in my opinion ) the best players available, to improve the overall talent level on this team in the coming years.

We'll have to trade up to get this dude, but most of you in Georgia know who this kid is

Dallas reportedly wants to trade their #13 pick, to possibly clear more cap room for Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. Would they accept the Hawks two 2nd round picks, or maybe a 1st round pick from us next year, in order for us to get their #13 pick? If so, that might put us in contention to get KCP.

I would love to see us get Plumlee. You can see how an active athletic kid who knows how to properly position himself in the paint can really make a difference on the bench when you watch a guy like Psycho T on the Pacers and Plumlee is about 3" taller and far more athletic.

How about Dennis Schröder aka "mini-Rondo"? I know the vast majority of us here wanted him in the draft years ago and if Schröder is anything like Rondo then he'd be a steal at 17 or 18. Paired with Plumlee I'd be one happy man after this draft if these kids realize their potential.

Peachtree has a quick summary on both of these guys.

http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2013/5/23/4356800/atlanta-hawks-mock-draft-2013

At No. 18, Mannix projects the Hawks to take 19 year old point guard Dennis Schröder out of Germany. Schröder was reportedly given a first round promise by at least one NBA team at the draft combine and is projected somewhat higher in a few other mocks. Mannix thinks he has the potential to be a very good NBA player in the future.

Schröder, says an Eastern Conference scout, "is a miniature [Rajon] Rondo." At 19, he has natural point-guard instincts, excellent speed and an improving jump shot. Several teams in the 20s would love for Schröder to fall. Hawks point guard Jeff Teague is a restricted free agent, and though he is likely to return, Schröder has the potential to be a big-time starter in the future.

Schröder is listed at 6-foot-2 but has a wingspan of over 6-foot-7. His athleticism and playmaking ability have him projected to be a nice player down the road. He is a high upside pick that may not last this far in the draft. Here is DraftExpress' interview with Schröder at the draft combine:

Another guy that DraftXPress has us taking, Jamal Franklin. Could be our Jimmy Butler type of perimeter bulldog maybe?

Being a Syracuse homer I would love for us to end up with Michael Carter Williams, although I'm not sure he's gifted enough as a scorer to be a starting caliber PG but he's got elite defensive ability, incredible size and is a hell of a passer. I heard multiple times during the season people refer to him as a poor man's Magic Johnson. I doubt he slips to 17 or 18 and I probably wouldn't move up to get him since we need bodies, but if he slips I hope we take him.

I hate to have to redo all the stuff we have already discussed in the draft forum. To be repetitve.......I like the theory of taking a legit rim protecting C to play by Horford and a wing player at picks #17 - 18. However, if MCW or Schröder were available I would have to take them. Both have the length to play with Teague and could free a up Teague as a nice trade chip down the road.

Karasev - This is when he was just 18 in 2012 (the equivalent of looking at Mohammed as a junior in HS)

Plumlee seems like a Ferry player. Think about how Ferry played and what he brought to the game. More IQ, determination than skill

Plus career averages of 7 points, 3 rebounds and 45% shooting per game. I sure as hell hope that we'll be looking for someone who was far superior to what Ferry was. I think there are plenty of guys out there with skill and basketball IQ that we don't have to settle for one or the other.

Plumlee is a freak athlete and horrid shooter. Ferry was a poor athlete and great shooter. They are polar opposites. The only thing in common are 2 white guys that played at Duke.

Ferry was a stud in college man. He was the #2 overall pick b/c his college career resembled Larry Bird. His college career was exceptional.

Who cares about his college stats though? Being the 2nd overall pick makes his NBA career look even worse and makes Marvin look like a HoF player by comparison. I'm more concerned with finding NBA studs rather than college ones.

I've been advocating this guy. Nate Wolters 2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report Video Sorry I don't know how to directly upload the video.

What do you mean directly upload the video? All you gotta do to embed YouTube videos is paste the URL from the website. You did it just fine here so I'm confused where the issue is for you. You can go through the hassle of pasting the iframe code like you did earlier but you have to check the box for enable HTML on your post. But that's the same code the forum software creates when pasting the URL of the video.

Context of the thread being repsonded too.

The thread comparing Ferry to Plumlee.........the 2 guys are polar opposites in everythng accept for being 2 white guys that played at Duke. Their games are nothing a like as the point.
