Since we like to come to conclusions already, here is the roster as of now (added Teague and Schröder already as that position would be empty otherwise and still only have 11 players):

Jeff Teague/Dennis SchroederJohn Jenkins/Lou Williams/Jared CunninghamKyle Korver/DeMarre CarrollPaul Millsap/Mike ScottAl Horford/Mike MuscalaThis could still be a "rebuilding" year to some, as Lou could still be out at the start of the season, which leaves little to no experience on the bench, and a lot left to be desired at the SG/SF positions. Josh Smith/Devin Harris/Stevenson/Ivan/Zaza out, Millsap/Cunningham/Muscala/Carroll/and a possible rookie in. So if you think that is a downgrade, then you still see a rebuild. If you see it as an upgrade, you see it as an improvement from last season.

At the same time, this roster could have a huge shake up in it as well before the season even starts so who knows at this point.

Kyle Korver and Paul Millsap... Top free agents. lol

Was anyone else even talking about Millsap? I don't know... Maybe he and Ferry had a deal waiting until after the Howard drama was resolved, but I don't know how you call Paul Millsap a top free agent. Or a reserve shooter. Good players, but top free agents? eh.

They were both top 5 free agents within their position... Millsap wat like #3 I think.

This is the stupidest thing that I have heard yet.

Tank for Wiggins. Wiggins is unproven. He plays in West Damn Virginia. He's not THE LOGO...

Sorry but he has to do more than dominate sorry WV teams and look good at some AAU games to make me feel like he's worth ruining a franchise over.

There was a lot of hype over Shabazz before he played in college.

There was a lot of hype over Mayo before he played in college.

There was a lot of hype over Chandler before he came to the league.

This league chews up HS allstars. Al Jefferson averaged 60 points per game in High School.

Bottom line is that Wiggins may be good but right now, there's no way we should destroy our franchise to try to get a kid who could be the next Marvin Williams.

Yes, ruin our franchise. This franchise is hanging by a thread. Danny Ferry only has 1 shot to prove that he's starting a new culture. Tanking and coming up empty would be a BK move!

You guys against tanking don't get it. You will NEVER win an NBA Championship without SUPERSTAR players! If you don't have them, you'll just get steamrolled by the teams who do in the playoffs and Millsap wont help! The Draft lottery is the only way we could possibly get one at this point!

For the record...

I hate the word "tank" and I really loathe the idea of "tanking" for one particular player. The Hawks need to REBUILD and search for talent and assets in the top part of the draft. They need to be smart about it and patient. Then come away with something they can build around or trade away for something they can really win with.

Well good thing there's an ass of them vexing free agents next year that have proven something in the NBA rather than some kids who haven't even played a real bball game yet

What you don't get is that just because you suck doesn't mean that you get a superstar player....

The system is rigged. Guarantee that Lakers are the Celts or Orlando will be walking away with Wiggins. IF he's still a superstar after 1 year of playing in college.

While I was in the pro-tank camp (it's right across the creek from Jeff Teague's camp)...it's a moot point now.

If a team was going to tank - about the last guys you would sign would be Milsap and Korver. A core of AL, Milsap and Korver will get you a bunch of home wins.

Everybody who keeps screaming tank for Wiggins are going to be the same people that will be ready to fire DF if we end up lower than the top 2 picks. Just keep building assets and wait for the moment to pounce it's too much of a crapshoot to trust the lottery

The Mavs and Spurs only have 1 star on their teams. They never tank and each have a title.

The Bobcats tank every year and have a ton of lottery picks. Look at what they have accomplished.

The Spurs tanked when Tim Duncan was the prize coming out. They had D Robinson back then and sat him out games so they would have a higher chance of winning the no1 pick. Take a look at the 2 organizations on drafting players. Player evaluation is critical to winning which is why the Bobcats struggle and the Spurs do well no matter where they pick in the draft. A comparison would also be found with the Atlanta Falcons. Before Dimitroff most of the GMs sucked at drafting. TD has turned it around all because of proper player evaluation, coaching and development.

The Spurs had to have a little luck on their side in order to win the 1st overall pick to get Duncan.

It worked out for the Spurs in 1997 but there is a chance that it won't happen for the Hawks if they were to tank next season. That is why I think that tanking is not the best option.

This year is a great year to tank because there isn't just one or two potential franchise building blocks. This draft stands out for its depth at the top. Why do you think Celtics, etc. are dismantling to build through the lottery? This isn't a Wiggins or bust year, although he is the big draw coming into the year. Lebron was the big draw but Melo, Wade, Bosh, etc. offered depth at the top.

Yeah, you made a very good point.

Next years draft will have variety of potential top level talent. I just think that tanking with the expectation of getting Wiggins is a very slim chance.
