Does anybody rationally think this team is going anywhere?

45 wins.....first round exit. This team won 60 games last season, and got exposed. Barkley is right. No legit paint game, no chip. I fell asleep on the game last night. Who cares about these empty wins in the regular season? The hawks are the braves 2.0. Regular season champs, post season flops... .

Are you really trying to compare the Hawks to a team that has not won a playoff series  since 2001? During our current playoff run there were many years when we advanced past the first round and in the second year of the Bud era we advanced to the ECF.

Boston had a point differential of close to +5 before our butt whooping.  They aren't my grandfather's Celtics but they aren't exactly chopped liver. If we play like we did last night we will beat almost any team. But sure, let's panic and look at the negatives instead.  Let's ignore all the reasons to believe that we will be getting better as the season goes along, such as Korver and Sef continuing to get into better shape, the potential for our young wings (Baze, Holiday, Paterson, Hardaway) to develop into key contributors, Edy Tavares slowly working himself up the rotation, the odds that Thiago and Schröder start picking up their games considering they are both playing at well below the level they did one year ago, Teague getting healthy etc.

This team started 8-1, is currently on pace for 51 wins despite just going through one of its worst slumps in the last two years while dealing with key injuries. This is still largely the same team as last year - Carroll, and while obviously he is a  a nice player, let's not act like he is not replaceable. Thabo and Baze are both putting up PERs equal to or better than Carroll did last year and Thabo is a much better defender.  Hawks fans complain about the national media overlooking us, but at the first sign of trouble it seems like its the fans that are the first to turn on this team.

They beat a bunch of mediocre teams at the start of the year and their point differential was very small.

The good news is that last night they looked more confident than they have looked since maybe Feb of last year.

We'll see...

I think Thabo, Baze, and Korver are that guy.  I even like Patterson in that mix too.    I just think we have to gel.  Some of that will come with getting healthy and playing games together.   Last years team had good chemistry because they were the same guys as the year before.  This year, we've made some changes.. Some chemistry changed and we have to compensate.  However, when we're cooking, only Cleveland and GS can beat us.

San Antonio would wreck this team in the playoffs. Honestly, this team isn't a sure bet against anyone that makes the playoffs.

I don't know.  First and foremost, the LaMarcus Aldridge, David West Spurs are not a sorry group.  They should be second best in the West.  However, we have to build the same thing that Golden State has.  Chemistry.  Honestly, look at the Warriors.  When you look at their pieces, they shouldn't be undefeated and dominant in the West.  I mean, the West has Houston with the Beard and D12.  They have OKC with Durant and Westbrook.  They have San Antonio with the San Antonio Big three Plus LMA and West.   Why is GS dominating that conference?  On paper, GS man by man looks like Denver.   The difference is Chemistry.  We had the same kind of chemistry last year.  We replaced Pero and Carroll with other players who may even be better on paper... however, both of those guys were good chemistry guys.  Until we rebuild our chemistry, we won't be dominant but we will be good.  If our chemistry comes together, we will make the experts question themselves again.

So the league is rigged in favor of the Cavs AND the hawks are flops.    It would seem like the rigging would make it very difficult not to flop.

If anyone thinks there hasn't been a culture change since Bud got here just look at our standard now.   ECF is considered post season flopping.    We were #2 in the regular season and #4 in the playoffs.   Yeah we really suck.

Warriors went a long time without a chip and got their SECOND one since the hawks have been in Atlanta. Anything short of a championship is a failure in Atlanta. They been in the league too long to settle for "culture" changes.  But , who cares? As long as the tickets are sold......

But, bud has instilled a cultural change......LMAO

Atlanta fans are like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. The hawks as a organization  has been a winning organization over the years. They do just enough to keep Charlie Brown coming to the games.  They are NOT gonna make big time moves to challenge for a championship.  Think back. Last year after the hawks clubbed the cavaliers in a regular season game, lebron  said "we will see you in the playoffs......"

Golden State also has more talent than we have. We can't just keep adding late 1st, 2nd rounders and aging bench players to patch the holes.

Yea..  for other players that were drafted at the bottom of the 1st round or 2nd.

Touche'.  We did kind of flip the #15 pick in two drafts into a possible 1st round pick (no higher than 15 and most likely lower) and the #24 pick but with only two years left on his rookie deal.  Hopefully we buck the odds but that is not a winning strategy long-term.

That has never been the question.  The question is can we recapture the chemistry that we had last year.

The point is that if you think the league is rigged then how do you consider an ECF season a flop?   That would seem like overachieving to me.

A Bradley Beal would be good for this team.

Bradley Beal has beginnings of stress reaction in his right fibula, and is expected to miss at least two weeks.

He's previously dealt with stress reactions in his lower right leg, missing games four separate times due to the ailment since October 2013.
