I don't mind giving Horford the full max if it takes that to bring him back. In the end, he's an asset and can be flipped down the road if we go in a different direction.

That's an interesting take.  Will the cap go up (again) enough to make Horford's potential max deal not look as awful as it'd look today?

If not, then that deal becomes really difficult to trade down the road.  If so, then go ahead and sign him.  What's the alternative?  Unfortunately all the other starting caliber C's are gone already IIUC.

Also the Lakers are in rebuild mode which will take a few years.  In 3 years, after the cap goes up a few times, Mozzy's deal won't look that bad.

Why is everyone calling his Mozzy now?...wtf you ain't his cousin...

Thought we were missing three point shots at the end of those games, we were in three of those games, diving for a loose ball was not part of the choking from three problem.

We lost a lot of those games because we don't have enough confidence on beating them. We have been weak mentally.  We have to change that.

Mozzy is fine.  Lakers will have talent around him where he can just do his thing under the rim.  A hefty price tag, but at least the Lakers are attempting to inrpove their roster.

Stop callin me Mozzy!!!!!

Damn near every team is willing to max him out. Trading him will never be an issue barring injury.

Yeah, you're probably right.  I still struggle with the 'sticker shock' on these deals.  I say go ahead and get the deal done so we can move on to the other building blocks we need.  As it is, we're missing out on support pieces (it seems).

I'm guessing the holdup would be trying to utilize Horford's Bird Rights to it's fullest extent. Sign Howard or whoever our targets are and THEN sign Horford since we can exceed the cap to bring him back.

If that's the case, they'd still announce that he's agreed to re-sign although everybody knows the deals would have to be ordered properly.

The Cap next year is projected to be at $109 million. Al's max is 30% of $94 mil.

If you're having sticker shock now, wait until next year.  Here's a preview - Millsap's max next year is 35% of $109 mil = $38 mil.  Horford will be making $26 mil.

Everyone's crying 'Hawks shouldn't sign that guy for that much money'.   When December hits they'll be crying 'why didn't the Hawks sign that guy".
