Squawk consensus big board #1

If it’s ok with the mods @AHF, could we start a consensus squawk poll on who we think the Hawks should pick if they got the 1st...2nd... (1-8) picks, if 8 is the lowest we can drop?

Is this something we could do like they have over at realgm. I dunno thought it might be cool 😎.

I thought you can create a poll when you start a thread?

Definitely.  Can you post the options you want to list for each pick and then I can add it as a poll.  Example:

Pick 1 options:

Anthony Edwards
Obi Toppin
LaMelo Ball
James Wiseman
Killian Hayes
Tyrese Haliburton
Deni Avdija
Onyeka Okongwu
Isaac Okoro

Cool thanks. Ya I just didn’t know how many names to throw up for the 1st pick consensus? Like the first 10 prospects on the big board or...?

If it comes easy to anyone feel free 😂

We'll need a list for each pick.  The simplest way would be to take a mock draft and list 1-10 for pick #1, 2-11 for pick #2, etc. but you might get repeats (like if the mock has Wiseman at #6 and the board loves him as of #3 then you'd see him picked at 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Ya it seems flawed. Any other more  efficient ways? 🤷‍♀️ 🤔

Could do a series of polls where you remove the previous round's winner and just keep a running tab of who the board is picking.

My Hawks top 5 big board: May 20th

1t. Anthony Edwards

1t. Obi Toppin

3. Isaac Okoro

4. Deni Avdija

5. Killian Hayes

Edwards -

Floor: 6

Offense - 7

Defense - 5

Ceiling: 9

Offense - 10

Defense - 7

Fit: 8

Swing Skills: Shooting and Defensive Impact at a good level

Comparison: James Harden mixed with Victor Oladipo as prospects.

Harden - 7/8.5 with two swing skills. (Shooting and Ball Handling) Turned out he secretly had another one (Playmaking)

Oladipo - 7.5/8.5 with two swing skills. (Shooting and Playmaking) Reach neither so far but close to shooting.

Okoro -

Floor: 7

Offense - 5.5

Defense - 9

Ceiling: 8.5

Offense - 7.5

Defense - 9.5

Fit: 9

Swing Skills: Shooting and Playmaking

Comparisons: Tough to say since he's a movement specialist who isn't a good shooter. I like the Jimmy Butler because there are some commonalities between the two but not really.

As Prospects:

Butler - 5.5/7.5 with two swing skills (Defensive Impact and Offensive Impact at good levels)

Toppin -

Floor: 7.5

Offense - 8.5

Defense - 5.5

Ceiling: 8.5

Offense - 9.5

Defense - 6

Fit: 8* I have him in the 2nd unit with Jeff. With Trae, his fit is a 9.5 like John's. With Trae, his floor is a 8 and ceiling is a 9

Swing Skills: Shooting, Playmaking, and Defensive Playmaking

Amar'e Stoudemire and Chris Webber with Joakim Noah's defensive brain but Kyle Kuzma defensive movements in his place.

As Prospects:

Amar'e - 6/8 + one swing skill. - Mid Range Shooting (era)

C. Webb - 7.5/8.5 + two swing skills. Mid Range Shooting (era) + Playmaking

Kuzma - 6.5/7.5 + one swing skill. Shooting

Deni Avdija

Floor: 7

Ceiling: 8

Fit: 8.5

Swing Skills: Shooting and Defensive versatility

Comparison: Toni Kukoc with better defense but less shooting

As Prospects:

Kukoc - 5.5/7 + one swing skill (Shooting for that era)

Hayes -

Floor: 7.5

Ceiling: 8

Fit: 9

Swing Skills: Shooting

Comparison: Billups, D. Russell

As Prospects:

Billups- 6.5/8 + one swing skill. - Shooting (era)

Russell - 7/8.5 + no swing skill.

No one received a +.5 for fit this year like Cam did last year for us and Clarke did for Memphis.

Swing Skills are worth .5 points which is significant.

Perfect example is John Collins. He was a 6.5/7.5 prospect. His fit with Trae bumped him up to 8 ceiling. He is extremely close to 8.5 if not there already as he has improved his shooting which was a swing skill as a prospect. His production is one of a 8.5 but his impact this year has dropped a bit but he's close which is all that matters.

6-10 is hard. I have to think about it.

I thought we just put up our top guys and make a general consensus.

Sure but aren’t we doing that already on the draft thread? Anyways I made a poll one, I don’t know if mods @AHF wanna merge or eliminate one?

I put 9 names for the 1st pick, if there’s a dark horse at the 1st pick I didn’t include, feel free to edit. Thanks.

Also I guess I have to wait for a bit till folks vote 🗳 to eliminate a name from the big board and add another in place.

Who would you pick between the two if we had the first pick and you were Schlenk?

Edwards. Why? Because he's the obvious choice. He has the chance of being the next Bradley Beal and some. No brainer, his ceiling and his fit as a 6th man is natural for any team. Last prospect like him was James Harden. A prospect where his potential on offense a 10 as a SG. Oladipo was a 8.5 offensively as was Beal potentially. Even if Toppin can be a 10 on offense sooner and more realistically, his defense is limited. Edwards has a chance at being two-way. Edwards is easy #1 overall pick in this draft even if you have Ball as your top prospect. Ball has to go to a Trae Young situation. How many teams are willing to do that? Not many.

That said, it's obvious that Toppin is the best prospect Day 1 in this draft. He fits Trae extremely well. Fits our personnel. John contract is expiring so there are reasons to consider him over Edwards.

I don't like Toppin at all, I see him and think Jabari Parker. I don't think he is a good fit for Hawks, we need good defenders next to Trae

He's a lot better than Parker in a lot of ways but he does have Parker ability to get the ball and go get a bucket in isolation but he also has John stretch 4 ability and movement skills. Just not to the degree of John currently. He also has the ability to put the ball on the deck in transition. He also has elite passing potential for his position. So he does have some of Jabari Parker in his game. Some of John Collins. Some of Amare. Some of Chris Webber but in a package.
