NOW THE SERIOUS STUFF BEGINS !!

It's been a short off season.  Then, why does it seem so long since we've watched the Hawks play?  Today, the first day of "real" pre season practice.  Next Monday we have a game and it's on TV!  All of our Covid-19 shots are up to date.  We're good to go.

Because some of the regulars are on very limited game time, we expect to see a lot of the new guys.  Travis has told us that we may cut a couple of our 20 man roster and then sign two new players.  This seems to be standard procedure.  More moves to ponder on.

We already know that part of our 20 man roster will go to the SkyHawks.  Not having a G League team last season has some of us excited about this team's upcoming season.  We expect an open door between them and the Hawks.  

October 4-6-9-14 pre season games.  That's all folks.  Regular season can't be far behind this!  Excited?  You betcha!!

We now wait.  Tiny things emerge.  We see film of players shooting.  We wait.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch - - (If you watched old western shows, you get this!)

We're told, practice is different this pre season.  No details, it's just different.  How?  No one knows and those that do aren't talking.  We're told, "Everyone is here.  We're 100% Covid-19 vaccinated."  

We see where other teams are still filling out their 20 man rosters.  Hawks have had theirs for some time.  Rumors abound.  Other team's fans want to swap their players for ours.  Nope.  No deal.

Braves sweep and win their division.  Falcons win one and prepare for Sunday, hoping for #2.  Then, finally!  It's Monday and time for that 1st pre season game.  Some will get to see open practice Saturday and we expect many reports about our Hawks.  

The first four don't count.  Pre season.  But, we're hungry.  Any food to hold us together until the regular season.  Yes, things are serious now.  Meanwhile, we pace the floor.  Waiting for the birth of these new Hawks!

My west coast team is not expected to make the playoffs despite their improvements.

My east coast team made it into the top ten.  Despite finishing tied for 3rd place in the playoffs and players getting over injuries that kept them out of the playoffs and despite all the new, added talent, we sink.

Were we that good?  Or, as others seem to think, we just lucked up?  After all, this is the Atlanta Hawks we are discussing.  They just can't be very good, can they?  They don't even have one NBA all star.  And, their coach was only an interm until the season was over.  Who do they think that they are?  

Squawk posters believe.  Apparently, they are in the minority.
