Premium Member sturt Posted February 28, 2023 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 28, 2023 Nate, now as the whirlwind of this last week begins to settle, I for one just wanna echo JayBird's sentiment, if you're reading this... And while she was forced into saying that by virtue of a lost bet, I also echo Trae's comments.... much love for your work these last two years, and that EC Finals appearance is something rare in ATL Hawks history. You brought stability and it was evident in the players' comments how they rallied to your "calm, clear and connected" theme. They really did play so well that post season, and your veteran leadership was a big part of that. And last season, your Real Hawks turned-in a W/L% that equaled that of the previous season's champs, and of last season's EC representative to the NBA Finals. This season just never seemed to get into a flow for a variety of reasons, but not the least of which was that you had to rely on the quick maturity of your youngest players in order to have a formidable 2nd unit... and it just didn't evolve that way. Like JC intimated without actually saying it, there's a maturity among players that, had it been present, would have made a significant difference in how this season developed. There can be no dispute, even among your detractors--and every head coach has detractors eventually, of course--you put your heart and soul into seeing this team succeed. Appreciate it. Godspeed to you and your family and inner circle.

Premium Member MarylandHawk Posted February 28, 2023 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 28, 2023 Touche. Nate preciate you you coming back to support Pierce when you thought you were done and then taking over unexpectedly to take us to the ECF. Unfortunately that meant you needed to coach more. Lol. Nobody can erase the accomplishments of yours and hopefully you left this team in a position to excel going forward without ya. Peace.
