  1. We actually have the personnel to live by the 3 pretty well though. It probably won't take us far in the playoffs of course. Still not sure why Cartier can't get off the bench. He's shooting 40% from 3. If we could improve our D a bit and cut down on turnovers we are still a pretty good team. We'll see if they can recover from that GS loss. Compared to the last 7 years its nice to see us not getting blown out in big games.
  2. We really dodged a bullet not drafting that guy. Think how we'd feel now that he's out for 3 weeks.
  3. Honestly he needs to be playing center somewhere. Like for the Lakers.
  4. Its not that i think we are better, we are. We were better the year after Joe was gone than we were his last year here. With Joe/Smoove/(rusty)horford we couldn't get by the Celtics in the first round. The celtics were creaky and we had every opportunity to win that series but we just weren't that good. The next year without Joe we play the Pacers, a much better team than the Celts, and play a much better series. You could argue we weren't better but we certainly were not worse. We are better this year than we were last year. With Smoove gone and almost no long term contracts we are a much better team than the previous year. And if Horford was healthy i'd put this team against any of the 'core' hawks teams. So I'm just not seeing the similarities to BK. So Ferry is doing the same thing EXCEPT not getting rid of everyone at once and not tanking and not losing and making smart moves to move up without first sinking to new depths. How is that the same thing?
  5. Was Hedo ever a PF? I always thought of him as Kukoc like. A huge SF who thinks he's a PG.
  6. Yeah what's not to like. 38% from 3 and 3.5 assists a game in limited time. If Dennis was doing this everyone would screaming for him to start.
  7. I think Pero could be a good center for us but he'll need a lot of on the job training.
  8. hmmm. i guess with Demarre having some injuries but still i'm not sure what he gives us exactly. I guess it can't hurt. Wonder if that means we'd let Cartier go. I like Cartier.
  9. Well the difference is pretty obvious. BK got rid of everything and we became a 13 win doormat of the league. DF is getting rid of things and we keep getting better.
  10. How is swapping automatically smarter than the right to swap picks? That doesn't make any sense. It isn't pure luck. It is a great thing if the nets are out of the playoffs for sure but even if they aren't how important can it be to have the right to move up even two picks? The right to swap first round picks totally unprotected was a great friggin deal to get in return for someone taking away one of the worst contracts in basketball. Its the definition of a win-win...for the hawks and a lose-lose for the nets. I'm not believing for a second that Ferry 'lucked' into part of the deal. I'm guessing that was our biggest demand.
  11. Wow. I agree with everything except that Fortune has smiled on us. Guess i'm a glass is half empty guy. Ferry made a great move in the right to swap picks. That wasn't luck. That was damn nice work. The rest i'd say fortune is looking to kick us in the ass: 1. We're clearly the 3rd best team in the East which means we are seriously competing for the ECF. That would be huge for this franchise, but then we lose our best player and really only good big to season ending injury. 2. The Nets are a ridiculous mess of players past their prime, injury-riddled, and clown led. They are 10-21 .323 30 games into the season and they are 3 FRIGGIN GAMES OUT OF THE 8TH PLAYOFF SPOT. Come on now. Give us something here.
  12. Last I heard it was Blank's to turn down. He was still deciding if it would work. MLS teams are apparently pretty expensive now. The stupid new stadium is going to be artificial turf though. Damn can we do anything right in this town. Why have a retractable roof for a artificial turf field? In the damn south for goodness sake. Anyway, i'm suprised MLS would go for this. I know they prefer smaller stadiums and soccer on turf suuuucks. Falcons should have gone to Doraville, built a grass turf field to have Falcons and MLS. Braves should have stayed at the Ted and added a rail line over. Possibly street cars. All this would have been cheaper and better than the Snafu of the last year in Atlanta stadiums.
  13. So can you just walk around town smoking weed now? What about in bars?
  14. The NBA has yet to take getting things right seriously. There are still a bunch of unwritten rules about not fouling out stars, not making calls at end of games etc. and it all comes down from the top. These refs aren't making these decisions on their own. They feel the pressure to not cross the leagues vision of good entertainment. Its stupid.
  15. Go Hawks! Glad this is in boston because 1pm philips arena on new years eve would be...quiet.
  16. I wish i could take credit for the gif but saw it and just couldn't stop laughing.
  17. I think we are overlooking just how much this sucks for this season. These Hawks are getting better as the pieces start to gel. Al is our best player but that could happen to any team. With Al healthy we were a very competitive east playoff team. With one injury, to Lebron or George or HIbbert, we would have a great chance at the ECF. I'm not hoping for anyone to get injured but if it could happen to our best player it could happen to anyone and this year there are only 2 other teams that matter in the east. I don't care how bad the east is that would still put us in the national spotlight.
  18. Once he gets comfortable I think he'll be a low turnover guy. Most of his turnovers will be risky passes i think as his hands are like glue. Not sure we keep 3 capable PGs and a combo guard all year though.

    John Jenkins

Even though his back feels fine that still sounds like a back problem. Sounds to me like they are just deadening pain in his back and legs for him which isn't a good thing. I've become pretty pessimistic about his chances on being an impact player for the Hawks. I hope i'm wrong.
  20. So which players play worse against bad teams and better against good teams?
  21. Actually I'm not a youngster but thanks. If we are taking Nique in his prime i'm assuming we are taking Smitty in his prime. Why would i vote for hobbled no knees Smitty? Smitty on the spurs ain't winning anything but with smitty one on one you have to respect the jumper, he's 6 9 and he can post up plus he was a good defender. Of course i'd still take nique but ij'm guessing smitty would have been tough one on one and there'd be a lot of trash talking.
  22. I can't go back pre-John Drew days but i'd say Nique for sure and wouldn't count out Smitty. I think Smitty has the best combo of great shooting and great post up. Of course what are any of those guys going to do to stop Shareef, Moses, or Willis from scoring one on one. Still i'll take Nique.
  23. While our first round pick can't stay out of the D league our second round tweener is balling. I think we have another Milsap up and coming.
  24. To me its not even the superstar dilemma. Its this right here. You're spending entertainment dollars. You want to go and have a good time. Not go and get harassed by fans of the other team and then have the hawks get embarrassed on their own court. This has happened far too often the last 10 years. We are turning it around but it takes time.
