KB21
I've often wondered if Shareef would be better off defensively at small forward. His problem defensively is that he gets pushed around and shot over in the post. He's got the athleticism to guard guys out on the perimeter, but he lacks the strength and bulk to bang in the post. Which brings us to, would this team be better off with Shareef at small forward with a jump shooting power foward that can rebound? Someone like Troy Murphy at Golden State? Gray Mule
Just to be different, how about this: Center ----- Nazr P.F. -------- Theo S.F. -------- SAR #2 Guard -- J.T. P.G. -------- Dickau or Wilks I would like to see them try this and see if Theo could be a legitimate scorer. I believe he could if he was put in at P.F instead of center. Couldn't be much worse than tonight's game @ Boston.
Playmaker0017
GrayMule, I thought about this as a viable lineup at the beginning of the season, except that Dermarr was at SG. I would like to see this lineup. The big problem will be the clog in the middle on the offensive end though. Play.
Gray Mule
We sure do miss DerMarr. The kid was just coming into what we thought he would become and then we loose him. I believe things would have been a lot different with him here and healthy this season. Toni K. is missed a lot too. He is injured a lot and has a bad back, but when he plays he sure makes a very big difference, as we saw last night. We should have some pretty good defense with Theo at P.F. & Nazr at Center and I think Theo could score from that position, probably a lot better than from the Center. KB21
JT would be the only credible shooter in that line up, with Dickau strugging with his shot right now. That would give the Hawks 3 post oriented front court players. That's why I said they need a power forward like Troy Murphy who can rebound, pass, and shoot from the perimeter. A Christian Laettner type without the attitude.
Premium Member Diesel Posted January 16, 2003 Premium Member Report Share Posted January 16, 2003 Troy Murphy is a good name... Unfortunately, I don't see him going anywhere. Getting a rebounder and a PG should be our plan of Action. Theo/Email for Anderson/Potapenko.. Dumps Salaries. Gets us an experienced PG. Theo for Snow/Tmac&cheese. Again, we get a defensive PG who can initiate... Theo/CC/Ira to Miami for Best/Grant. Miami would kiss us if we took that Salary. However, he's physical and can play in the post. Best can run an offense. Theo/filler to Milwaukee for Cassell/Pryz/Caffey.
BlackHawkDown
He is a liability at PF, on defense. It couldnt hurt to move him to SF. and what if we brought Big Dog off the bench.

Guest
If that's what you really want, then put GRob in at pf...his handles and game resemble that much more... I can't believe people are saying this. SAR's shot is too flat to consistently take jumpers. We must continue to make him bang in the post with the occasional jumper
Playmaker0017
WeaselDom, Forget about the flat shot... he is just a MUCh better inside presence... period. I mean, he does hit his flat jumper a good percentage of the time... but if he hits his hook shot 50% of it... then make him take hooks. Play. KB21
That's why I added that the team would need a perimeter oriented power forward for offensive purposes. A player like Troy Murphy or a Christian Laettner without the attitue.
unknownjdb
Since last year (on the ESPN board) I have been saying that ATL would do awesome with a starting lineup that included Nazr and Theo. Nazr isn't that horrible defensively and would definitely compliment Theo. I've also thought for a long time that Shareef was actually a SF. Well, he should be. Why we didn't keep this lineup and get a tall guard instead of Big Dog, I have no clue. And just to say it again, Gilbert Arenas would be great on this team. What a lineup that would be... PG - Arenas, Dickau SG - JT, Dickau SF - Reef, Newble PF - Theo, Ham C - Nazr, Henderson
