CrawDaddy
A source tells the Pioneer Press that the reason the Wolves couldn't make a deal with Phoenix for Kevin Garnett is that the Suns were unwilling to give up the first-round unprotected 2008 draft pick they have coming from Atlanta. That pick could end up being No. 1 overall. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...rom_getting_kg/
coachx
Interesting. I can't really blame the Suns. Trading an unprotected 1st and a 25 year old Stoudamire for 32 year old KG is TOO Much.
oiatlhawksfan
They're dreaming, if they think, it'll be no. 1 overall

cowa
Why do you think they are dreaming? All it would take is a Joe Johnson injury for a prolonged period of time and the Hawks are looking at the basement in the East. Boston is now better, NY may be better. We would be right there with Seattle, Memphis, and possibly Indy and Portland. Portland had the 5th worst record this year and got the #1 pick. Why would Phoenix think it doesn't have potential to be #1? I honestly can name 10 teams that we are CLEARLY better than, and if the breaks don't go our way, we could easily be giving Phoenix a great draft pick. Can't be a homer when you're looking at the Hawks through another team's eyes.
Vesper
I have to make a comment about Boston. I agree that they have 3 all-star starters. But what happens to them when they bring in the bench. They have no bench. What happens if one of the all-stars gets injured? They have no bench! Dexmethylphenidate
They probably looking for a PG from that class to replace Nash.
gsuteke
before you factor in injuries, etc. here's my list in no particular order. Philly New York Milwaukee Indiana Charlotte Seattle Minnesota Sacramento Memphis that puts the Hawks 10th from the bottom in my eyes

Still...as long as KG doesn't get injured (and he never has) they'll probably have a better regular season record than the Hawks.
BHayley
Wasn't our 2008 pick traded to Seattle as part of the salary move involving Kurt Thomas?
exodus
Quote: Wasn't our 2008 pick traded to Seattle as part of the salary move involving Kurt Thomas? The Suns traded their own pick in that deal, not the one they got from us.
