Gray Mule
Interesting. I just checked the ages, birthdays of our current roster. FYI they are listed here, from oldest to youngest, one being oldest and 15 the youngest. 1 - A. Johnson ---------- 10-02-74 2 - L. Wright ----------- 11-04-75 3 - T. Lue -------------- 05-03-77 4 - Speedy C. ----------- 05-08-78 5 - Joe J. -------------- 06-29-81 6 - Salim S. ------------ 02-11-82 7 - Josh C -------------- 06-20-83 8 - Shelden W. ---------- 10-21-83 9 - Zaza P. ------------- 02-10-84 10- Mario West ---------- 06-19-84 11- Solomon J. ---------- 07-16-84 12- Acie Law IV --------- 01-25-85 13- Josh S. ------------- 02-05-85 14- Al Horford ---------- 06-03-86 15- Marvin W. ----------- 06-19-86 Notice that 2 of the Hawks share 6/19 as a birthday. Any suprise here for anyone? Who did YOU believe was the oldest Hawk? Youngest? Something that might not matter to you, but I found interesting. Premium Member mrhonline Posted October 26, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 This mostly just makes me feel old. My brother and I got together today, and we decided to throw around the ole' pigskin, and it was baaaad...when did I stop being young?
prolific25
He was born on the same exact day that Len Bias died.
BossTweed
Wow, that makes me feel old. I didn't realize I'm the same age as Joe (actually a little older).
Final_quest
What strikes me is how our team is so young, and the older players are not really integral to what we are doing. JJ is the oldest key player on our roster at 27.

Murat
What srikes me the most is that Marvin who is the youngest on the team gets most hate on the board. Also, out of our older players we can only count on Lue to produce. We are not even counting on these guys. AJ Lo Speedy
Gray Mule
No teenagers on this roster. Our "baby" is 21! Yet, all the key players we are counting on are the age of JJ or younger. Pretty special. Some have said, "Makes me feel old." Me too. I have three sons. All three are older than the oldest Hawk. Looking for great things from these guys this season. AJ Lo Speedy In the "board's" defense, the Marvin hate really slowed while he played well in the preseason. Hopefully both sides of that continue. Moderators AHF Posted October 26, 2007 Moderators Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 Quote: This mostly just makes me feel old. My reaction as well. Exciting for this team, though! There should be a lot of growth ahead for our key players.
coachx
I knew Marvin was still the youngest on the team. However, seeing him at the very bottom in age ranking really makes you keep it in perspective as to how potential he still has. The youth of the players who should actually be getting the heavy minutes is still staggering.
Nicholasp27
our four youngest are our four with the most potential i'm 3 months older than jj; i'd be a vet on that team
Premium Member mrhonline Posted October 26, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 You know, I didn't realize that Lue was only 30. He's only one year older than Claxton.
Iman
Hmm, since we dropped Medvedenko, Ivey, and Batista for West, Law, Horford, our average age probably stayed about the same even though our key players gained a year. A similar average may stay for the next year or two if we drop Lo, AJ for draft picks or young talent.
Premium Member mrhonline Posted October 26, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 I think the Hawks' ages averaged to between 25 and 26. I think Golden State, Portland, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Seattle might actually have younger teams. Just guessing, though. Blunt91
JJ is 26yearsold.
LongTimeHawksFan
Man getting rid of them is such a relief. Batista couldn't even make it onto the Boston roster whose bench is thinner then that girl Courtney off of survivor china!!!! Where is Medvestenko now? And Ivey might have tried but Im sorry he just didn't cut it. And to add two potential starters in their place makes the team much improved. I haven't seen Mario yet but he has been getting good reviews.
