Plainview1981
We saw how they played in series 1 and they played horrible tonight. Ray Allen looks really terrible. Dude is probably washed up. Boston is getting lucky that Lebron missed that easy layup.
TruJerz
they are a bit overrated..they are good but I dont see them beating Detroit..and i wont be surprised if the Cavs beat them in 7 games too. but Celts are still a good and dangerous team though
TheTruth
Yeah, they are good...but they wont win it all. LA will take it to them in the finals (if the Celtics make it that far). They are too much of a finesse team that have shown some serious weaknesses at times.
Dexmethylphenidate
I don't see anyone can beat them to a 7 game series. If the Hawks don't beat them, no one can.
DJlaysitup
I thought this was a hoot - from realgm - 1st quarter of tonight's game (2nd) while Cavs are winning: "Seriously, I don't know why the media hasn't picked up on this.. the garden is SO QUIET. i felt embarassed when ATLANTA's arena was louder than the BOSTON FREAKIN GARDEN. Maybe Bibby was on to something. There are a lot of fairweather fans." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I thought the whole Boston/Hawks series would just wake the Celtics up - I'm beginning to think that it will be the Cavs against the Pistons. Damn Ilgou can shoot - 5 for 5 so far. Boston will get it going though. Cassell is gonna have to play serious minutes. Rondo isn't doing much so far. Ooops - Ilgou 6-6 while I was typing. P.S. - Ray Allen 0-2 LOL. "Side of a Barn - meet Mr. Allen.....don't worry....he can't hit you"

FrankWhite
This has to be the most hideous playoff series I've seen since some of those Knicks-Heat gems in the 90s.
dlpin
If Lebron does not develop a consistent jumpshot, he will never have success in this league. The spurs found the key last year, and the celtics are using it, and if defenses dont start respecting his jumper, all good teams will keep closing the lane and giving him the open J. I may be overly optimistic, as I am a Celtics fan, but the only way the celtics blow this is if Lebron goes on a serious hot streak from afar. And I mean hot, not his usual self. Just as an example, his effective FG% (efg%) from jumpshots is below 40%. http://www.82games.com/0708/07CLE13A.HTM
DrReality
Taken a two game lead . . . which is what happened with us. We'll see if they hold serve.

He needs to make driving the hole his first option on every possession.
dlpin
well, its hard not to settle for jumpers in that situation. The celtics are basically lining up to keep him out of the paint, and leaving him by himself to shoot. And holy cow, I thought Doc Rivers was bad, but Mike Brown takes the prize as the worst coach still in the playoffs. Lebron gets the ball in the exact same spot every play, with Varejao setting the screen without any commitment whatsoever. Its almost like Varejao is shying from contact. And never mind that it doesnt really make sense to have Varejao and Ben Wallace doing the picks... That allows Boston to double LJ without leaving any of the 3 point shooters open. I am a celtics fan, but I am realistic. I don't think Boston will win it all this year. Not because of talent on the court, which I think we still have the best. But because of coaching. Doc has shown time and time again that he has no idea of how to make adjustments in the middle of a game. We can come out of the east because all coaches left in the east are very, very weak. But any of the 4 left in the west (Popovich, Sloan, Scott, Jackson) are far superior to Doc, and will adjust their game plans in the middle of the game, while Doc will insist on doing nothing (like when the cavs went on an 11-0 run in the first game and Boston was scoreless for 6 minutes, and he didnt even call a timeout)
Admin
So there is a coach that can't get his young star player to take the ball to the hole and stop shooting long jumpers? Mike Brown should be fired immediately!

Its not so much "can't get" as it is "explicitly designs plays where that is the only option because the player he picks to set the screen is useless offensively and everyone else was just asked to stand around and do nothing." You have to admit that that may not be the worst in the league, but is certainly the worst remaining in the playoffs. When you keep calling the same play for 2 entire games and it never works, there is something wrong with you. Guys like Josh Smith taking reckless 3 pointers is a lack of discipline, and dont get me wrong, that is bad coaching as well. But Cleveland running the same play over and over, and running the same play from the exact same spot, is just outright stupidity. Cavs offensive game plan is basically: Z, Wally Z, and Gibson stand around and dont move an inch. Ben Wallace or Varejao set a halfassed pick where they are already moving and avoiding contact before Lebron is in the other side. As long as pierce or posey stand in front of him, and garnett denies him the paint, the cavs wont score more than 75 this whole series.
Admin
I'm not a fan of Mike Brown at all as a coach and the funny thing is that he was BK's first choice at the time when we hired Woody. Doc Rivers is also a terrible coach and it just proves that if you have good players it doesn't matter how bad the coaching is and in truth other than a handful that are great coaches there probably isn't much of a difference between 90% of the coaches in this league. Mike Brown should be fired immediately! James has a 48.6% EFG% on 3pters for his career. Not great but not too bad. With his ability he should not settle for 3s but he is good enough to shoot some and should clearly handle the ball outside the 3pt line. That doesn't excuse a bunch of Wallace/Varajao pick and rolls but does show it is a little different situation than with Josh Smith. Josh has a 39.5% EFG% on 3pters for his career. That is aweful. He has no reason to have the ball outside the 3pt line. I am not a big fan of Mike Brown either, for whatever that is worth. He and Woody giving clinics on offense would be like listening to Stephon Marbury talk about leadership.

Plainview1981
This might be the most sloppy and heartless champion the league has had in some years. Them winning really shows the lack of great teams in the league. They can't be a great team for the simple fact that they got took to 7 games by a bottom 3 franchise in the league. We can't forget they also got taken to 7 games by a fairly untalented Cavs team.
exodus
They also won 66 games during the regular season and are up 3-1 against the team that won the tough west and handled the Spurs fairly easily. LA had only lost 4 games total in the playoffs until this series.
Plainview1981
It doesn't matter. Do you think a great team would get taken to 7 games by two mediocre franchises? What kind of champion losses like 6 road games in a row? What kind of championship team has scoring efforts like these: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280506002 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280508002 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280510005 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280512005 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280516005 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280520002 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280526008 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280610013 Greatness? I think not. Before the playoffs started, I figured they would win. However, I expected far more impressive performances than what they've given. exodus
If they win the championship and raise another banner i don't think that banner will mention how many road games they lost. Their goal at the start of the season was to win a title and they are one game away from it now.
