Now Lebron is In Miami, Atl needs to trade to contend

Our only hope to be a significant contender is to upgrade the SF position. Forget the center, it's not going to happen and it's not like the Heat have a great center, it's only Dwight we worry about but so do they. Our PF/C duo is good enough. Since we don't have a superstar we need a SF that will contribute. So either we do a trade for one or we sign someone like Josh Howard or TMac and hope they step up.

Isn't it funny the sf position in the nba is the easiest to fill?

we are DOOMED! the hawks will always be the hawks

Troll ALERT, your giving us NO shot at all. We are still a better TEAM even with the three of them. If anything this will show us ALL just what Joe and the rest of the Hawks are made of next season. This should be fun.

I'm openly asking mods on a Hawks fansite to step up and issue at least warnings on posters who are openly trashing the team and threatening to leave as fans to other teams. This is just pathetic. :thumbsdownsmileyanim:

ac tually the best trade we could be lucky to get would be unloading marvin, crawford and whatever else for Carmelo. Now THAT would turn the tables quickly. It's possible to do but not sure if it can be done with our owners. They aren't aggressive enough. If they were smart, they'd go for something like that cuz it'd make money. Otherwise they are wasting money on the team.

Who's kidding who?? Miami is better just like that but unforgiven is a absolute clown and needs to find another team. I'm all for this clown putting on his freshly ordered LBJ Heat Jersey and heading to Miami. Anybody else?? Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you unforgiven. :*ss:

I'm not all that impressed with Miami either. Bosh just isn't that good. Just a "stat guy" on a mediocre/poor team. In my opinion, he had no business in the headlines along with the other marquee free-agents (including JJ). Seems he was just brought along for the ride. The "lap-dog" comment seemed a perfect analogy.

James is the most arrogant individual I've ever seen in professional sports. I would enjoy this forum much more if his name were banned from use unless the discussion was about the Hawks playing his team. Enough is enough with him --- as far as I'm concerned. I do respect his game, but am tired of having him shoved down my throat by everyone involved in the NBA and the media. It's just isn't working (for me) like it did with Jordan,Magic, Bird, etc. I also believe he made a mistake with the Miami signing. His "brand" may need a championship, but now he won't be in position to take credit for it.

Wade is Wade. Volume shooter/scorer --- still living on the glory of that Championship series free-throw shooting binge. But he's much older now and he doesn't have the size or a body that can endure what he used to. And no great jumper to fall back on. But his smiley face does do commercials!

And who else have they got? Where are they going to find any money to actually put a decent TEAM together? Three guys? C' mon, there must be some "rest of the story" that is supposed to be impressive here? Ted Arison's "baby boy" had better sell his golden pacifer --- along with a lot of cruises ---- in order to sign a supporting cast of players necessary to win a title ( or even advance in the east), in my opinion.

No. You don't make knee-jerk reactionary moves based on this or on what any other team might do. You proceed with the plan regardless of what anyone else is doing.

What plan????

I don't see any plan. What "plan" do you see? Pick up some scrubs and comeback with the same team that got the crap kicked out of them last year.

Are you serious, third best team? Little grasshopper you have plenty to learn....

We might as well pack in the season........... Who needs enemies with fans like this?

We actually match up well against these 3 guys.... now the thing they have to do is find a Rajon Rondo and a Perkins.... Even this doesn't give them a title, remember the Redskins did this a couple years back to sign all these big name free agents and were horrible.... They are still paying for those moves.

All we need is a bench and to push Marvin - either to get better or to the bench - period.

I am looking forward to this match up. HORFORD and SMITH is going to go slap off!

They should pack up because the Hawks players are losers. The Orlando series made that a complete FACT.

Well I'm not sure what the plan is. That's up to the ASG, Rick Sund, and Larry Drew to come up with. But part of the plan should be to not get all crazy based on the moves that other teams are making. This team is young and improving and in my opinion stability and slow and natural growth can often be the best move of all.

Let's see what those guys have came up with in the past.....

Not very much.

Obviously this situation isn't all the Hawks fault, but it's just so frustrating.

Hotlanta you can follow him down to Miami if you want?? I don't give a damn if they put together and All-Star Team, i still would fully support the Hawks. I just don't care, i'm that devoted. Now i'm not just content with maintaining status quo forever but what else can we freaking do at this point?? I'd like to hear some suggestions??

Yes we have dropped a step or 2 back, i think these teams are better or at least on par with us as of right now: Miami/Orlando/Chicago/Milwaukee/Boston

No. You don't make knee-jerk reactionary moves based on this or on what any other team might do. You proceed with the plan regardless of what anyone else is doing.

I agree. This also goes for not making a knee jerk reaction about the center position just because Dwight Howard exploited a poor defensive game plan by the Hawks.

I strongly disagree.

That's why the mavs can't win anything - they don't stick to a plan.

Same thing happened in cleveland.

And btw yeah chris paul would be nice BUT it takes two teams to consumate a trade. Easier said on a message board than done in real life.

Exactly! It's easier to say the Hawks should trade for Chris Paul than it is to actually go out and get that deal done.

There are really no trades that we could realistically pull off that would make us better that that team. The Heat are better than us over night; that is something we have to accept.

We are now the third best team in our division.

Not hardly. The 5 players the Heat currently have produced a combined 48 wins last year. The Hawks have not lost a single key member of a 53 win team. The Heat have to not only make up 5 more wins with the players they surround these guys with, they also have to offset the improvements that Al Horford, Josh Smith, and Jeff Teague will all likely make next year.

Marvin for Diop to get our center.

That is exactly the type of deal the Hawks do not need to make. No matter how much you think Atlanta needs a so called true center, trading Marvin for Diop is foolish. That is not getting equal value in a trade. It's trading for a lesser player simply because he is big. And for what? So he can sit behind both Al and Zaza?

Our only hope to be a significant contender is to upgrade the SF position. Since we don't have a superstar we need a SF that will contribute. So either we do a trade for one or we sign someone like Josh Howard or TMac and hope they step up.

Howard or McGrady are NOT upgrades... are you kidding me? I was suprised to compare all of the SF in the league earlier today and for some of the doubters, you would be surprised at how many name brand SF Marvin really is better than. Pls do not get confused and think just because it a flashier name that it is a better fit at this stage in either players career. Marvin still is very young and is often time forced to be the 3rd or 4th option each night. I have been on my fair share of trade marvin scenerios, but honestly if we ask marvin to dump it down each night, but then expect him to be top of the class as well, that something that not many players can balance. I think marvin just needs a solid back up. Melo is not being traded, nor any the other top 10 SF.

With that being said, I do like our chances against any team in the league, especially anyone in our division. We have just as solid a core as anyone one else. We are however missing a couple of peice, and we all know what those are. Is this an immediate fix through FA,maybe... I am not mad at a Shaq acquistion even though his former teams did theorectically take a step back when he got there. Can we say that was all on him.. no IMO. Outside of that, unless its blockbust I say we should ride with our core, minus Evans unless it was some bigger fish out there.

Do not doubt our squad. Remember how it's been for the last 3 years or so... we could always roll with the punches from the best teams in the league(ORL excluded). It was the sub par teams that we would always drop games to. Our squad is full of potential greats. Tell me that if KG wasn't still getting the popular vote(much like Tmac or Iverson get every year) that Josh would not be our teams 3rd All Star???

Let's Shock the world Hawks.

Get us a PG that can defend Sund...
